Many of you have asked what Sugie thinks of Harrington. Well, to be honest, at first she didn't like him much. She batted at him and bit at him through the playpen. She stomped her foot and had a little hissy fit. Basically, she was trying to tell him that Bunnyville was her space and she was the boss and like her Mama, she is particular about the decorating. You know women can be protective and picky about their houses!
After talking to my friend, Paula, at Cape Fear House Rabbit Society, I decided to give it a full three weeks with him in the playpen and her getting use to him being in her space. That turned out to be a very good idea. This past Sunday was their first "official date" in our bathroom (aka neutral territory). Sugie "presented" to Harrington, which means lowered her head to the floor for grooming. In bunny language, this means I'm the boss. Harrington totally ignored her as he was much more interested in all the nooks and cranny's of the bathroom. Upon Sugie's third presentation and Harrington's third dismisal of her, she got totally ticked off, had a mad look on her face, lifted her tail and pee'd on the floor! She never does that, so I knew she was really mad! Of course as I tried to clean it up, Harrington (Mr. Mischief) came over to investigate, sniffed the area, tried to eat the paper towel, looked at me and said, "oh boy mama, she's really mad! It was quite hilarious! I told him he better get his buns over there and give her kisses.
David and I then put them in the carrier (aka, the to go box) and took them on the death ride in the car. Bunnies get so scared that they will huddle together for protection. When we got back, I left them in the to go box and vacuumed up Bunnyville around them. Again, they hate the vacuum and huddled together. Then, the door was opened, they were free and they ran around merrily on the new carpet runners. Harrington was one happy bunny! At one point I couldn't find him. He had hopped up on my sewing chair under the table! Man can he jump high. Note to self, make sure chair is pushed in or he'll be on the table!
Now, they are the best of friends and Sugie even let's him in the willow tent with her. Here she is filling him in on the work duties involved in living in Bunnyville.
"Oh man Sugie! That seems like a lot of work!"
"Don't worry Harrington, mama can't get past the 'cute factor'. All you have to do is look cute and do cute things and then you can lounge around and do nothing."
Obviously Harrington took her advice.
Happy Friday everyone! Visit me next week for lots of fun things including a new stitchery pattern that you're sure to like!

You got so lucky! I had Tiff first, she has been with us since she was 8 weeks old. We then adopted Colin from a rabbit rescue to be her friend. She hated him and attacked him quite badly. We took advise from the rescue and did everything but still fights. So we sent them to the rescue who told us they couldn't bond them either, no go. That's how we ended up with 4 bunnies! When we got Ellis, we agreed to adopt her on the proviso she got on with Colin, and they did - instant friends. Again, when we adopted Harry we hadn't even seen him, we sent Tiff off to the rescue and said they could bond him with any male that she took too. Luckily he turned out to be the gorgeous and adorable tiny little Harry. It was very traumatic when Tiff and Colin were fighting so I'm happy you avoided it.
oh I'm so glad they're getting on so well, they look delightful snuggling in the photos!
Too cute Shell! I am glad they are bonding. My honeybunny is coming home today I can't wait for a good snuggle!
Smiles all around! I'm sure it's a big relief, so happy for all of you.
They are so cute together in the willow tunnel. And that pin-up shot of Harrington? Let's just say, Ginny is drooling on the keyboard looking at those legs!
Thanks for that story.. cute. They always seem so docile that I was surprised..
Bunny Hugs,
Maggey

Happy bunny dance!!!
Wow! I'm so happy our buns are getting along...it seems my two are never gonna be best bun friends :( Oh well.
Congrats! They sure are cute together :)
What a great bunny story. I am so happy they are getting along! They make a beautiful pair.
Hi Shell
Good to be back! I missed you too!
So glad your bunnies are getting along, they are too cute.
I am trying to catch up a little but it will take me some time to see what's been going on around blogland
Have a great weekend
Blessings
Rebecca
HAHA! Oh my goodness I liked this story! Your bunnies are SO cute!!! :D
Taylor Kay
How cute are they! Sounds like you knew the magic to get them to bond. Cute post.
Jeanette
I agree, totally cute post...
Yay ~ bunny love!~ Nothing better. So glad that Sugie has a new friend and you, too. :)
I'm so glad they're friends now! They look adorable together. That last pic of Harrington, that's exactly how my cat lays on the floor, lol!
Oh my gosh, they are soooo cute!!! I'm so glad they are getting along together so wonderfully! :)
Wishing you & yours a great weekend!

Hi Shell, Your bunnies are so cute. It would be something to find Sir Harrington on the table. I wasn't thinking about them jumping that high, but then bunnies are one pet that we didn't try when the kids were small. I enjoyed your previous post, but just haven't been able to leave a comment. Have a great weekend and I can't wait to see your new project. Your Missouri Friend.
OK-maybe I really do need to look into this "bunny" thing instead of cats or dogs!!!!
So glad it has worked out--but then I knew it would!!!!
Hugs, Di
Oh thanks for sharing them. I miss my Rhett Butler I enjoy your posts.
Oh fine!!!! They look happy. Now to get those 4-bunns of DMoll done!
MAybe she should load them all up n a single cage and take them for a ride!
Dear Shell:
Everyone loves a happy ending! Such a sweet story of True Dislike that turned to True Love. Your very own Westley and Princess Buttercup. "Mawwage"...hee hee
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm hoping to make some serious headway on the giveaway quilt. Lots of points to match up and blocks to sew together. We'll see what the little terrorist lets me accomplish.
xoxo

Yea! I am so happy, I never thought of scaring the crap out of them to bring them together.....Great plan and they lived happily ever after!!

Laughed out loud readig this one Shell! Poor Sugie didn't stand a chance in trying to dislike Harrington. And the photos of them huddled together are the ising on the cake in this post. But the one of Sir harrington stretched in front of the door is pretty darn amazing too!
what a wonderful bond they had, not too upsetting!
I went thru what Wendy went thru - and it was really scary, so it's bunny gate every day for us here :)
but glad that love exists where you are :)
Hi Shell,
What a very sweet post today and so happy that Mr Harrington and Miss Sugie are now getting along and best friends.
My daughter came and looked at your bunnies as she loves them too and really wants a couple now.
thanks for sharing and for visiting me today.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
What a lovely picture of them together. Well done with the bonding!
YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!! I've been opening emails to ask you about it all week, then x'ing out of them because I was afraid I'd upset you if it didn't go well. What a success!!! In our next lifetime, I will definitely take your rescue's advice.
And interesting about the car... that's how we did it too! Sogna was afraid of Biff before, but when i opened the two carriers in the car she actually hopped into his and started grooming immediately! It really does work! That's also the only way I ever got a reprieve from you-know-what-bed.
Having never had bunnies as a pet I found this so interesting. The more I read your blog the more I want a bunny!!!
Shell I am so happy that the buns are friends now :) I have read about the techniques you used, but never tried them. I am glad to hear they actually work.
They will both be so much happier now with a cuddle buddy.
(PS I got my gift on Saturday...YUM!)

Oh Shell that is great!!! Harrington is so sweet with those ears!! How could Sugie not resist!!!
What a cute story, well except for the jumping, that is scary, I didn't realize bunnies could jump.
Sound like the new help is settling in!!!

Mags
