Busy Hands, Happy Heart

It's funny how doing a simple thing like stitching can bring so much peace, calm and happiness. I've always been a "busy" type person, having trouble shutting off my mind, sitting still and oh yes sleeping. I can't remember the last time I slept and entire night. It's been years. However, something as simple as a needle pulling thread seems to make me feel so relaxed.

This is my latest pattern that I just finished, like literally 10 minutes ago. It's called "Roses for Laura Stitchery." It measures 13"x17". It's really fun to do and anyone can make it. You even get to use colored pencils and do a little coloring. Remember how fun it was to color? That is always relaxing. The pattern is available on my site if you'd like to give it a whirl. Busy hands can lead to a happy heart and to something pretty for your little French Cottage.
Oh, Princess Chloe Pudd'in Pie is doing much better. Thanks for all the well wishes for my baby.

Thanks so much!

Well dag! I've been awarded an award by three people! How fun! I would like to thank Dianne of Mamas Pocketbook, Carrie of Noelle Garrett Designs and Janet of Janet's Creative Pillows. Stop by and visit my friends. They have fabulous, beautiful things and are oh so fun to visit with! Thank you all so much!

Ok, so I have to list 10 honest things about myself. Hmmm, well, if you read my blog, you know I'm always honest and probably give you more info. than you care to know about, hee, hee, hee.

Here goes!
1. I truly believe that if you want something bad enough, you can get it, if you believe in it. I have achieved everything I have ever set my mind to. I don't let poo poo people hold me back.
2. I became a vegetarian last July when the local grocery store had cut up BUNNY listed in the sales flyer!!!!!!!! Not only was I sad for the bunnies, but I was sick about the other critters and haven't been able to eat critters since then. However, if you eat critter, (David eats critter), it's your choice. I don't get mad at others, it's just my choice.
3. I make it a point to smile and say hi to elderly people when I pass them in a store or on the street. I think they are so cute. My grammy is 92 and I think she is precious! Ok, maybe I smile at everyone and say hi all the time to everyone because in the end, nice matters and it makes me happy to smile and say hi even if people think I'm dorky. It's a good thing I live in the South where that is socially acceptable. I mean if I lived in NYC, people would probably think I was in need of medication and a real dork.
4. I hate dresses and have not worn a skirt or a dress since 2006, when I only wore it once for my 20 year high school reunion. I really, really hate dresses and look stupid in them. I love blue jeans and cowgirl boots and would wear them every day of my life if I lived in a climate that I could. But... again, since I live in the South it can't happen as I would be sweating bullets in the summer! However, I still don't wear dresses, I wear shorts. I think I said this once before in an award, but it still stands.
5. I love dorky people and I love to laugh really, really hard until I snort, which always happens when I laugh really, really hard. Laughing is good for your mind, body and soul. I recommend laughing every day. It does a body good.
6. I worked as a waitress from the time I was 16 until I was 21. I think everyone should have to wait tables once in their life to realize how hard it is dealing with hungry, cranky people. I always tip 20% because I know that this is not a career for most folks, it is a means to eat, survive, put yourself through school, pay for children, or get yourself a fresh start from a bad relationship. If you can't be nice and tip someone, make a sandwich and stay home. Don't be a putz.
7. I never wanted kids and I'm afraid of newborn babies. I don't like to hold them until their head stays on by itself. Scary!
8. David and I have been together 20 years this year and we have only had one major fight. It happened before we were married. We both like calm, and our home is our sactuary. We give each other freedom to enjoy the things we each like, while enjoying things together. The best piece of advice I got on my wedding was from my friend, Margaret. She said, "live each day to make the other happy and you will always be happy." She was right. Love ya Margaret.
9. When I was 10, I had my front teeth and bone from my upper jaw kicked out by my pony. I have had extensive tooth/dental issues since then and now I'm 41 and needing more. I think horses are beautiful creatures, but I'm scared of them and have no desire to sit on one.
10. I'm a "huggy" person and belive that a good hug makes one feel better. Life would be so great if we just hugged one another, said "I love you" and accept people as they are. We may not always agree, we don't always have to like it, we don't have to be around it, but if we stop judging and started loving, the world would be a beautiful place.
Love you all,
Shell
Oh... I have to nominate folks. Well, everyone on my blogroll, I nominate you. If your there, it's because I treasure you.

Rachel The Rabbit Pincushion

I would like to introduce Rachel The Rabbit. Isn't she adorable? She's very excited to sit and watch you sew while holding all your pins and needles. If you would like a Rachel of your own, you can purchase her from my site.

I would like to thank my friend Cindy, of Angel Heart Designs, for helping me with the perfect little bunny for my pincushion. Hop over and visit Cindy. She has the most wonderful clay creations! I had her make me a custom bunny clock for Bunnyville. Isn't it fabulous!
See you soon.

Chaos in Bunnyville

What a crazy week! Monday started with me giving the bunnies their Pet-i-cure. Of course, we all know how everyone in this family hates that! Well, I went to trim Princess Chloe Pudd'in Pie's dew claw and the whole darn thing came off! Eeeeewwww! Yick, puke! I almost threw up. There was only a little bit of blood though and she hopped around just fine afterward. I called the vet and they said not to worry that this happens sometimes and if she was acting ok then no worries. Well good. At least that's what I thought on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, Chloe was hardly eating. She was acting really weird. By Thursday she was worse. So Friday am, bright and early, we make our 2 1/2 hour drive to the vet. Turns out her back teeth got points on them and made ulcers on her tongue. She was hungry, but was in too much pain to try and eat. Poor little thing! You see bunnies teeth grow like fingernails. Normally they grind themselves down, but sometimes they can be a problem. They were fine in December, but got wonky now.

Well, they put her under and filed down the teeth and points and sent us on our way with medicine. She's doing better, but still can't eat regularly. I have to feed her with a syringe. Thank goodness for my fabulous vet's!
Of course I brought Razzy along too for a checkup while we were there. He has been on a diet, but has only lost 4 grams! Lazy, chunky, bunny. But "Mr. Fuzzy Pants" is so darn cute and such a lovey!

Finally, I leave you with what I did get accomplished this week and it's my "Friendship Rabbits Stitchery." You can make a cute wallhanging out of it or a pillow. Do you see the rabbits? It says "Friendship isn't one big thing. It's a million little things." A fun and easy gift to make for that special friend in your life. The pattern is available on my site.

Have a great Memorial Day! Thank you to all our Troops! We love ya!

The Urge to Purge

All that cleaning has made me tired!

It happens to me every year. When I get really stressed out I clean like a crazy woman. I have an uncontrollable urge to purge. To free my life of clutter and stuff and things that need to be dusted. To lighten up the place and let the air and sun in. Those of you that know me closely are laughing as usual. I always seem to collect stuff over the year and end up right back here. But not this time! Mark my words. I've been on a journey to keep things calm, clean and serene. I love whites and creams with just a hint of color here and there. Like a little bit of makeup on a healthy face. Nothing heavy, just light.

So I cleaned out the bookcases, the cupboards, the closets and had a mega yard sale. I can breathe again and I'm calm. Now my mind can be free and focus stitching. I have some wonderful new designs that are light, airy and fun. The first of them will debut this week. Be sure to hop back for a visit. Until then, I leave you with before and after shots of the great room bookcases, some calming photos of my roses from yesterday and of course, a sleeping bunny.

Bookcases before. Took away the books (moved them to other room) got rid of dusty fake plants. Sneeze, cough, contact has dust on it and I can't see!

Now my favorite items in shades of white and cream. Easy to care for.
I'm saving for a new slipcover for the couch and two new chairs. Those two I'm going to put back in the bedroom. Need to sell some other things first.

Wishing you a calm, peaceful and serene week.

And the winner is....

Congratulations to Kath! She has won my 109 blog post giveaway! Kath please send me your address and I'll get your prize to you!

Since I couldn't get the coworkers to cooperate, I just listed and numbered the names of all who entered. Then I asked my DH to pick a number between 1 and 20. He picked number 18 and Kath that was you! Congratulations! Thanks also to everyone that entered and made me laugh! I need that!

Next, I want to share a wonderful, lovely present that I got from my friend Melanie! Isn't this afghan gorgeous! She asked me if I liked afghans and what color and then made me this incredible present. This is my chair in my bedroom where I like to sit and read. I think the afghan looks wonderful here. What a great place to cozy up with some tea and a good book!

Thanks Melanie for your kindess. I love this gift.

Finally is a piece I made for my friend Paula at Cape Fear House Rabbit Society Paula is a fabulous lady that rescues bunnies and gives them a good home until they can be adopted. In fact, this is where Princess Chloe Pudd'in Pie came from! Paula is a great bunny mom and I was delighted to make this piece for her.

Have a great week everyone! Check back on Wednesday!
