Whew! I'm already tired! I have soooooooooo much fun stuff to share with you today so let's hop to it shall we?
First, I want to show you photos from the "Day of Sharing." What is the day of sharing? Well, it is a super fun day for quilters filled with a quest speaker, show and tell, prizes and FOOD! Woo hoo!
The quilt above is my guild's raffle quilt.
The Crystal Coast Quilter's Guild hosted the day this year and my guild, The Croatan Quilter's Guild was the co-host. We were in charge of desserts and door prizes. The door prizes were hat boxes full of quilting goodies! Aren't they wonderful? The host guild invites other guilds from around the area. We had over 125 people come to visit.
This is Vicky (left), our President and Gerri (right), our Vice President. They made sure everything was perfect. Vicky is also a member of the Crystal Coast Guild and was chairwoman for the day of sharing. She is amazing with all the things she can accomplish! What's that old saying? "You want something done, you ask a busy person." That would be Vicky for sure!
The theme this year was Pineapples and who better to have as a guest speaker than none other than the pineapple queen herself, Jane Hall!
Jane showed so many wonderful pineapple pieces. Here are a few.
I need a telephoto lens for my camera!
I looooooooooove the colors in this one.
She showed us how each block was made and how by simply changing the colors, you can change the look of the quilt. There are hundreds of possibilities!
Jane is a wonderful lady. I purchased one of her books back in the 90's and it's still one that I treasure to this day.
When Jane finished, the show and tell with the different guilds started. Here are a few of the quilts.
Aren't they wonderful?
Then they showed this quilt. It is over 100 years old!!! It was a huge quilt that was entirely hand pieced and hand quilted. I was amazed at the condition of such a large old quilt. It was awesome!
This was totally cool too! It's a mailbox cover! Yep!
It was varnished and protected and had magnets on the underside so it would attach to the mailbox. Needless to say, everyone wanted the address of where this lady lived so they could do a drive by and snag that cover! ;)
Then there were all the guild raffle quilts on display. Each one was stunning.
Well, are you inspired? Do you want to get started on a new project and need a good deal on some fun fabrics? Well then, I invite you to hop on over and visit my dear friend, Kris Young at Lavender Quilts for her moving sale Monday event. She has loads of great fabrics on sale and you are sure to find something to inspire your next project.
Hugs and see ya Wednesday!
xx,
Michelle and the fuzzy crew

This is very similar to what our district Hall of Fame does - each guild making up a basket of goodies for auction (our guild did a Christmas theme basket) and then there is the large quilt (each member inducted in the Hall of Fame contributes) for auction. The speaker happened to be our guild member who was just recently inducted - on vintage crazy quilts.
Wonderful quilts, thank you so much for sharing.
Beautiful quilts. Hugs, xx
