My PHD

Hi ya! Well, it looks like December is rushing by me as fast as the rest of this year has. Good gracious. I said I was going to start Christmas stuff in July and somebunny (DEECE) said she and I would hold each other accountable. Let's just say NOT!! hee, hee, hee. It's just how it goes sometimes, life takes a detour.

However, I do feel much more organized going into the new year. Fellowship of the flowers will start on January 1st. Stay tuned as I have lots to tell you and it's going to be soooooooo much fun!!

Also, my local quilt guild, The Croatan Quilters, has something to keep me inspired as well . People sign up to finish their PHD's! Now don't go getting all crazy thinking we are going back to college. These PHD's stand for Projects Half Done!!! Haaaaaaaaaa!! Just cracks me up!!!!

So, I'm going to sign up this year to work on this PHD. I started this quilt back in 2005 for my best friend, Beth. It's going to be a king sized quilt for her bed. Lucky for me she doesn't suffer from OCDD (Obsessive Compulsive Decorating Disorder) and hasn't changed her color scheme like some of us. Ahem...I changed mine 5 times since then. Naughty. You know those darn point police are going to be all over this quilt. No wonder I stopped working on it. ;)

How it works is each participant signs up and shows what they are going to finish. We donate a few dollars to the pool for each project. Then as you finish your PHD, your name gets crossed off the list for the project you completed. At the end of the year a winner is drawn and you get half of the money in the hat. Fun huh?

I have another PHD around here somewhere that I would also like to finish in the new year. So, what are your PHDs and are you ready for Christmas? Did you make a lot of stuff this year, or are you just shopping?

xx,
Michelle and the Bunnies

I know. I know. I've been working away, but I started in November instead of June this year. Well, we always have 2014, right? ;-)

Sorry I haven't been in touch. I'll send an email to explain everything. (Not bad. Just busy.)

TTYS. Love to you, D and the Bunns.

I have several PHD's and now when people ask what I am up to I am going to tell them I am working on my PHD. Won't they think I am brilliant when I tell them I have several PHD's?

Oh, love star quilts - no quilt police here, so finish this one. I don't have any old PHDs, but about 6 flimsies waiting from all the QALs thru the year - once that new machine gets here, they will be made short work of.

Now this could actually be a "degree" I could earn. I don't even know all the Projects Half Done because if I did I would be very unhappy with myself. Your guild has a great idea of helping one another. I too was going to begin Christmas gifts in June but never did. Life does get busy. December Delights Dear...

A beautiful and worthy project to finish.

I personally never, ever start a project without a complete plan and all the resources, calendar-time, support, and conviction to complete it.

I started my current one (my only one, ever) back in 1956 and it is not due until 2021 so plenty of time yet. Besides it is just to make my Dad a pencil holder from a nice scrap of pine wood. So not too hard. I'll "get 'er done"

Great idea! Yep! it is a good thing your friend hasn't change her colors. Boy will she be surprised and won't you be happy! It is going to be so pretty! Keep up the good work and good luck winning the loot!

Oh YIKES!!! I have no idea how many PHD's I have... just talking quilts probably at least 11 or so!!! I know, I know... but I've never been able to afford that longarm machine so I could do my full/queen sized quilt tops so there they sit. I am terrible at hand quilting and manipulating a big quilt under my Bernina is just so uncomfortable... whine, whine, whine :D Don't let our foremothers hear this, lol!
