Wear it Like a Crown

Mama's in Houston for Quilt Market. She was invited by Valdani to sign her books in their booth. She's excited and so very fearful at the same time.

Her suitcase, full of her books and quilts weighs 71 lbs. She weighs 90 lbs. She says she's a "little bunny in a great big forest."  We know she'll do great. Her close friends and Papa know the same. Yet Mama still worries about the unknown. Will people like her designs? Will they like her book? Will she let herself and everyone down?

She said this song was perfect for her feelings.

Mama will be away from the computer until next Thursday or Friday. She wants to unplug. She said she wants to "be in the moment and take in all that it has to offer." She's waited 20 years for this moment.

She loves you and so do we. Mama's going to take her fear and wear it like a crown.

The beauty and love in handmade

There's just something so wonderful about things made by hand, especially when those things are made by the hands of people you find incredibly magical, beautiful and oh so fun.

My friend, Anita from Castles, Crowns and Cottages, is one such person. One visit to her blog and you will forever be enchanted with her. She is an incredible paper artist and storyteller. Oh, and she plays the harp too!

Every year I purchase a rabbit ornament for my Christmas tree. This year I found the most wonderful addition. This is Jingles. Anita crafted this handsome fella with her own two hands. The minute I saw him, I knew he must come and live with me.

Jingles arrived in a beautiful handmade traveling box, with a handmade card and some lovely, lavender, handmade soap. The older I get, the more I cherish things that are unique and handcrafted. I find myself being so worn out and utterly bored with anything "made in China." I prefer to connect with a person rather than a factory.

Anita's card read, "This item is made with a lot of love for art, whimsey and Bunnies." I too share those sentiments and I'm so very happy to have this piece of art for my tree. I will cherish Jingles always.

I encourage you to create your own handmade pieces and also purchase handmade things from others. There is so much beauty and love in handmade.

Hugs to you!

Christmas Inspiration

Isn't it funny where inspiration comes from sometimes? I've been pondering some Christmas pattern ideas for the last few weeks and listened to what everyone said regarding the questions I posted, but still, nothing was really "wowing" me. I want something different.

Then out of the blue, I received a gift from my dear bunny friend, Christina. (Thank you!!) She was inspired to send me this wonderful gift after reading my post on The Fairy Dance with my niece, Noelle. Click here if you would like to read it.

I looooooove this photograph and have framed it to hang in Bunnyville. Yesterday, while pondering yet again on what kind of Christmas design I wanted, I looked up at this photograph and Ka-Pow! It hit me!

I sat down and sketched and sketched and fine tuned. Once I was satisfied with the sketches I drew the final design. Then I did the happy bunny dance. ;)  This design will be available November 5th, after I return from the Houston Quilt Market.

Speaking of the Quilt Market, I have some very exciting news regarding this pile of color. I will share it with you on November 5th as well. I can't wait! (Insert happy bunny dance again)

Ok. Back to work I go. Have a fun day and see ya back here on Friday.

Happy Friday and a Sneaky Peeky

"Well?"

"How are you doing with your 'Adventures of Harrington and Hannah' blocks? Are you up to date or...

are you running a little behind?"

"Get it Harrington? A little behind. A bunny behind. Your fuzzy butt. hee, hee, hee. I crack myself up."

"Ok. So anyway. Join us Monday for the next block. Here's a little sneaky peeky."

Happy Friday!

Your opinion and a Winner

Well, it's the last day of the "Leaf's me Happy" blog hop. Did you have lots of fun? I sure did! Thank you for your lovely comments. I read each and every one and they make me smile so big! This is the last blog hop me and the bunnies will be partipating in for this year, but you can always hop over and visit with Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt for many more hopping adventures!

Before I announce the winner of the table stand, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on a few things? I'm getting ready for my Houston Quilt Market trip, as well as, getting ready for some exciting news and designs to share with you next month.

Questions:

1. Which is more appealing to you? Snowmen, gingerbread men, reindeer, Christmas bells.

2. Do you like to purchase patterns or books?

3. When you purchase a kit, do you like the pattern included in the kit or do you want to purchase it separate?

4. Do you purchase quilt related items as gifts for friends, or do you usually make them something?

5. Do you like small, quick, mini projects that can be done in a few days, or do you prefer to make larger wall hanging projects that may take a month or more?

Thank you for taking the time to answer these. I truly appreciate your opinion.

Ok. Now on to the winner of the Table Stand! Congratulations to Eileen of Designing Quilts! I just reread her comment, and today is her wedding anniversary, so happy anniversary! Email me with your address Eileen and I'll get your prize in the mail to you.

I only have a few table stands left in the SHOP. They are still marked down 15%. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Have a fun day and me and the bunnies will see you right back here on Friday with a sneaky peek of the next Harrington and Hannah block.

Bunny Mail

I'll admit it. I still get so excited over snail mail and brown paper packages tied up with strings....oh wait...I can't sing. hee, hee, hee.

Today I wanted to share some beautiful mail I received from friends far away. Some bunny mail if you will.

First, is this bracelet from my dear artist friend, Jo May. (you can also find her on FB and Twitter)

You may remember me getting earrings from her recently to wear to the Houston Quilt Market. Well, now I have a matching bracelet. Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah! (insert doing the happy bunny dance here:) Jo is such a talented artist. I love everything she creates.

Next came this....Hello!! Marlene of Stitching by the Lake, is such a gracious, giving, and kind person, who I am honored to call my friend. Recently, she participated in the Dots on Dots blog hop. She wanted me to have the quilt she made!

I don't know about you, but I think it looks perfectly at home in Bunnyville!

Then, all the way from South Africa, yes, South Africa, came this surprise from my blogging and designer friend, Erica! Two of her darling stitching designs and those cutie floss keepers! Fun! I must admit that I was so touched that she said I inspire her. I can't think of anything better than to be a positive inspiration to others.

Thank you so much my friends. I am spoiled indeed and so very blessed by your friendship!

Spread joy, give love, and have a wonderful week. We'll see you Wednesday!

Leafs Me Happy - Falling for You

Woo hoo! Happy Friday! Today is our day to participate in the Leafs Me Happy blog hop! First I would like to thank the lovely, Cherry of Cherry Blossoms Quilting Studio, for being the head cheerleader and hosting this event. Second, I want to thank the fun and fabulous Madame Samm for organizing these blog hops.  It's been so much fun meeting new friends.

I was truly inspired by the name of this blog hop. I simply adore the Fall season. It is my most favorite season of all.

This 12" finished design is called "Falling for You." I was inspired to make it as I just celebrated my 21st wedding anniversary on September 21. This design represents my love of my husband, David, my love of fall, and my love of Mother Nature.

Samm and Sarah Squirrel are getting married under the giant acorn. It was a most wonderful celebration and all their woodland friends were in attendance. Things did get a bit "squirrely" at the reception. hee, hee, hee. ;)

This design holds true to my Folk Art Fusion asthetic with wool applique and big detail stitching. It's a fast and fun project to make, as well as, a delightful way to celebrate the love of this season. Perhaps it could even be a gift for somebunny special who is having a fall wedding. :)

Patterns and kits are available in my SHOP as too are the table top stands that are marked down 15%.

However, being that I do love to give presents, I'm giving away one table stand for this blog hop! Please note, if you order a table stand during this giveaway and you are then the winner, I will refund the purchase price to you. Easy as that!

To enter, leave a comment on this post. As always, the bunnies and I do love our friends and followers. If you are signed up (on the right sidebar) as a follower, you will get two chances. The random generator will choose the winner on Wednesday, October 10.

The bunnies and I would like to invite you to hop over and visit with the other fantastic participants that we are honored to share this day with. Enjoy!

Insanity Defense
Sparrow in Flight
Quilted Delights
Quilting with Marmalade Cat
Traveling Quilter
A Stitch in Time

Again, thank you to Cherry and to Madame Samm for such a fun hop! :)

Sneaky Peeks

I hope you're having a fun week so far! It's been super busy around Bunnyville.

Here's a sneaky peeky of my new Folk Art Fusion design "Falling for You." I designed this especially for the Leafs Me Happy blog hop.

I'll have the pattern and the wool and floss kits available in the SHOP on Friday. I can't wait to show you!

I've also been working a little more on this piece. It's for my next Folk Art Fusion book. The book will feature whimsical projects inspired by fairytales.

Well, gotta get to work. See you back here on Friday!

Lady Hannah Goldenhare - Nothing Gold Can Stay

Hello dear friends, It's been a minute hasn't it? My last post was over a year ago. I decided I wanted to stay in my bubble where it...
