Hi ya! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and all you moms out there got to celebrate your day in a way that brought you big smiles!
Today I wanted to share something fun I have been working on.
It all started back in January when I got the notion that I would like to create a "series" of work for myself. Yes, my passion is teaching and creating designs to share, but sometimes one just needs to create for the sake of creating.
It was cold, dreary and there was lots of snow when I started. This is the view from Bunnyville. Ick, gag, puke. I don't do cold.
Most of the time when I'm working, my mind is running a million miles a minute. I tend to see humor in many things. Half the time I crack myself up thinking about something dorky, like putting bow ties on bunnies. It's from this dorky state, that I decided I wanted to create "A Series of Nonsense."
There will be six pieces in my series and each piece will feature a rabbit or rabbits. After all, I am the crazy bunny lady!
This "Series of Nonsense" will be a play on nursery rhymes. Each piece will created in my signature Folk Art Fusion style.
The pieces I am creating are for me. One of the things on my "dream" list (I don't do bucket lists as I like to focus on living and not dying) is to have a series of work that is exhibited. I'm not interested in entering these into a competition. Competing makes me extremely uncomfortable. I'm much more of a teacher and I love to share things with people.
My dream is for them to be exhibited somewhere people can enjoy them. I want to make people stop for a moment and look. I want them to remember the nursery rhyme and then laugh when they see how I turned it into nonsense. My dream is that my series will make people smile.
So, may I present "Peter and Peter, Pumpkin Eaters." They are the first in this series. Do you remember the rhyme? Now you know why the bunnies have bow ties. They are dressed for dinner. ;)
I can't wait to show you what comes next. Any guesses?
Now for those of you who love the pumpkin, never fear. The pumpkin will make it's appearance in a pattern for you to purchase and make for yourself this fall. :) :) :)
xx,
Michelle and the Bunnies
