Hi ya!
Well, I guess I really did shock you last week when I told you David and I were selling our cottage and yes indeed, it did sell. There are many reasons behind it like trying to cut down on his 50 minute commute to work, or the fact that we thought we would live here for nine years until he retires and then move to Florida. However, we discovered how much we LOVE this town and never want to leave! Prices here keep going up and up and up. We decided that if we were going to retire here, we better get to where we want to be before we couldn't afford it.
That being said, we have felt like we were on an episode of Property Brothers. You know where they show the people a really nice house with everything they want and then shock them with the outrageous price tag? Well, that has been us. Most places have increased $30k in the last 18 months. But like everything in my life, the winds of fate bring me right where I should be and then the moon and stars align to make it all work out (even if I have to go through pure HELL first).
You know I have a HUGE love of houses and honestly, just like when I design quilts and wool pieces, I can envision what a house will look like finished. I get down right giddy thinking about what can be done! hee, hee, hee.
So back to the winds of fate. We were lead to a house in my FAVORITE neighborhood here in Wilmington. My bestie, Lydia, can tell you because I always drove through here saying "One day I will live in Wilmington and live in this neighborhood."
If all the banking, inspections, blah, blah, blah go as planned, we will be moving into this cutie cottage in TWO WEEKS!!!! Yep, you heard that right. Yikes! Although it looks large, it's actually smaller than our current house and that is just fine with us. We love little houses with big character.
So, if all goes according to plan, I will be adding a segment to my blog called "In a Fix" because we will literally be living in a fixer upper. I thought it would be really fun to take you on this adventure with us and show you how we transform this little cottage and the yard into our dream home.
I'm still pinching myself that what I said all those years ago is coming true. I'm living in my favorite place and in my favorite neighborhood. You ready? We sure are!
Hugs to you,
Michelle

Wow, amazing! How do you ever get ready in two weeks to move, you must have some super powers. I am so happy you found your forever home. Good luck!
Congratulations dear! You do work magic and I shall be very interested in your travels through "Fixt It Land". The home looks amazing from the curb view. Hoppy Easter too...
Well let's get to fixin' !!! Good luck with the blah, blah, quack, quack stuff first!
What a lovely home! I'm sure you'll enjoy making it "your own!" All the very best!
Congrats on your new home! Looks beautiful and it sounds like you've made some great decisions!
Such a fun adventure....It's always wonderful to make things the way you want them to be ...For you .....Good luck 😊
Hi Shell. Wow it was a surprise when you said in a fix. I could see that your house sold and left you without a house. I will keep my fingers crossed that everything works out for you. I hope you post pictures of your before and after when you make changes to the new house. Take care. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend Shirley
Thanks so much for taking us along for the adventure. I'm going to love it 😊 I hope David's commute is shortened.
I'm still following along by email but can only comment when Blogger doesn't throw you off my list 😡 But I'm here 🤓
What a beautiful house. Hard to believe it needs "fixing". You just need to make it yours, right? It will be fun to follow you on your fixing adventure.
I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to see your "fixer upper" progress on your blog!
I'm so happy that you found something you really love. Hope all goes well.
So happy for you! It will be great fun to follow along as your dream comes true.
Fantastic news for you! You are going to be a renovation sensation! I hope David's commute is drastically shorter now. Xxxx
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT????? YOU will be living in a home that you've been admiring for years!!!!!!! THAT IS AWESOME! OK, I need more information. I need to know more! Happy day, Shell!!!
Beautiful home and I sure hope everything works out as planned , exciting times 😊
Good luck on the move. And I can't wait to see your "Fix It" seg, just hope it's not really going to be like the Property Brothers with knocking walls down etc. Living around that kind of renovation looks to be very difficult (Hannah would spend a lot of time "Thumping").
Yay, congratulations on your wishes coming true and finding your "forever" house exactly where you wanted it to be...have fun making the new house "yours", it looks cute from the outside...
I can't wait to see your vision! Comgratulations!
Alrighty then! Now the cat is out of the bag and it's good news. You two will be quite busy in the month but it will be fun for all of us to watch the transition. ;0)
Life is not about the destination, it is about the adventure that gets you there and life adventures sometimes take detours. An established house in the right neighborhood will have to feel more like putting roots down for sure. Now, you go girl and make it your own. All the world is made of faith and trust, and pixie dust. J.M. Barrie. Love from us and a wonderful Easter to you and David. judy and marty
Hi Michelle I hope the move goes well and you can start making it your own. We did this with the home we live in now, it was a right mess when we moved in with our two boys aged one and five and our dog!!! The walls in the main sitting room were bright orange and all the windows needed replacing and the kitchen and the bathroom and all the rooms needed decorating.
We took the opportunity to move walls round and create a laundry and then decorated the whole place and had new carpets. We moved in on October 1st and were finished by December 24th when the new carpets came!!! It was mad especially with running our own business from home as well. So I really appreciate when it will be like.
Happy Easter
Hugs, Susie x
wow Michelle i am so excited for you both,it looks a lovely house, glad you got the neighbour hood that you wanted.
This is so exciting! I can't wait to see before and after pics of your fixer upper. As of recent I have said to myself "I wish Shelly was closer to help me with decorating/remodeling ideas" We too have sold our house in Stafford and On June 17 we head to MN. Yep, not as "nice" as NC weather wise, but being neighbors with my sister will be super awesome. We haven't found a place yet, but it will most def. be a fixer upper. I will keep you posted and maybe you will see a virtual tour too on a house we have our eye on.......time will tell.
wrote - "what happened to the new house" - but then I saw you have a blog posting about it so read that instead. Good for you that you are moving if you know this is the right house and in the right place!! Life is too short to settle. Can't wait to see how you change it and know it will be gorgeous when finished....you have that kind of taste!! Good luck on this adventure and thanks for letting us all come along for the ride!!......Janet
