This is our master bathroom. We upgraded to a tile floor and a tile shower.
We got rid of the "builder grade" light fixtures that everyone in our neighborhood has and replaced them with these. We also supplied our own cabinet knobs and mirror. The builder just had a big plate glass mirror, again, boring. Little touches can take a home from "Builder Grade" to "Home Mayd" and it doesn't really cost that much. ;)
I added plantation shutters on the windows. There is one above the soaking tub (aka Sabrina's tub because she plays with her toys in there) and one in the toilet room. I found these pictures at a local thrift shop for $20 and the colors were perfect!
View from the toilet room. I rarely shut the door to the toilet room. I hate feeling closed in. Also, it never fails that Sabrina will start meowing at the door!! What is it with kids and animals when you are trying to use the facilities? hee, hee, hee
My color palette for this house is espresso (blackish brown), beige, brown, cream, blue and green. I feel they are perfect colors for my new design style, which is "Calm, Clean and Serene."
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. What do you think?
See ya right back here next week!
Michelle

Very pretty and wise choice of colors. Your can accessorize with so many other colors.
It's beautiful! And so nice to see you happily settled in.
Oh, very pretty! Love your color palette - calm is the word.
bathroom looks really pretty, Shell. But not surprised - your house in New Bern was a show place so I am sure this one will be as well.

Beautiful Michelle,I love your home,xx Rachel and Speedy
Very, very pretty dearest SHELL! I hear ya about "builder grade" - since our house is old, we love some of the original features, but then some that were replaced back in the 70s HAD TO GO when we took possession of Rabbit Hill! The little touches that each owner makes builds a unique nest. Your bathroom looks WONDERFUL! And yes, what is it about that moment when one needs to use the facilities that animals, kids AND husbands suddenly need you RIGHT NOW? teeehee
Love what you are doing to your beautiful home - makes me want to go to my bathroom and "de-accessorize" - just a little bit. Well, may a lot !!! I am the "must have something on every wall kind of person" I guess. OhWell - my wonderful word. Where did you get the plantation shutters from? I so want them in my home. Another quick question for you - I have a quilting friend who loves and has bunnies now and is looking for a good vet in the Raleigh area. Told her I would ask who you use. Hope all is well with sweet Shell. Judy C
Yes--what is it with cats crying at a shut bathroom door--???? Always thought was funny and still do!!! Love the bathroom and glad to hear it is 'kitty' approved!!
love and laughter, di
From "builder grade" to "Home Mayd" your home is stunning. I adore your colors and your style. Home Sweet Home...
Great job-your changes really make it super. I also love your colour scheme.
love all that you have done!
Your new cottage is absolutely beautiful!! Enjoy!!
I so love the way American homes are so beautiful. I love the dark coffee accent blends so well with the lighter accents in yor ensuite (that's what us Aussies call a bathroom off the bedroom). I'm a clock person one in every room, love the fact you have one in your ensuite too. I am so enjoying peeping in your new home. Looking foward to the next room.
Beautiful, restful and serene. Just as your intended.
