Letting the Light in

I have always loved a light filled home. My last house was filled with light. Speaking of my last house, can you believe it has been a year already since we moved? I can't. Time is flying by so fast.

Anyway, this house also allows the light to flow in. I love how Sabrina finds sunbeams to sit in.

This is our laundry/powder room hall.

The laundry room has a beautiful window in it.

As you can see, the solid door blocks the light from coming in the hallway.

So, this is my remedy. I replaced it with a frosted glass door that says "Laundry" on it. I think it has such a cute "cottage" look. It lets the light in and hides our laundry from guests when they use the powder room. Nobody needs to see my underwear hanging up to dry. hee, hee, hee.

This is the powder room. I replaced the builder boring light fixture, upgraded the pedestal sink and added the storage cabinet above the toilet.

I also thought this was the perfect place to hang one of my cherished art pieces from my friend, Sue. Yes, it's a real rabbit food bag from England. Cool huh?

Finally, this is a basket I got from a vintage market here in town. I found the "fake" eucalyptus from Pier 1. I love the smell of the real stuff, but I read it can be poisonous to cats and I didn't want to take any chances with my baby girl.

So what do you think of the laundry door?

Light, love and hugs to you,
Michelle

That door is fabulous. Perfect for that spot. Such a waste of daylight hiding behind the solid door. I love Sabrina sitting in the light, she is a beautiful kitty.

THAT was a fabulous tour of your cottage. The remedy with the frosted glass door is PERFECTION. You still have privacy, but with a muted light source. Oh Shell, it's looking wonderful! And I know what you mean about the light. I love to hang out in the front room where the morning and early afternoon light burst in. Then I move to the great room in the back where the retired sunset gleams on the walls. I live by the light of the sun and moon, and try my best to live by the light of truth and love. Oh God, help me do that! AND.....I LOVE THAT RABBIT FOOD BAG!

Michelle, my daughter is redoing her kitchen and laundry and I showed her your door. Can you share the source so she can buy one?

So pretty Michelle. I just love the laundry room door, a perfect solution. Where did you find the cabinet in your bathroom, I have been looking for a white one just like it for over 2 years!

It's a very pretty cottage. I remember your last house did have more light, though. Do you now have any skylights here, or plans to install? That might help rid some of the dark corners.
The frosted glass door was a great idea, Michelle, and really charming. Why not add a little "laundry art" such as a mini washboard or print of colorful clothesline?
Thanks for the tour!

Glad to see the bag survived the move! Everything looks great, we are coming to the USA in August but I don't think we are anywhere near you!
