House Staging and Followers

Hi ya! How are you? I'm tired. My little part time job with the builder has turned into full time. Last week I worked 37 hours and the week before 41. All of that on top of running The Raspberry Rabbits. Sure was a lot easier to do all this when I was 20 years younger! hee, hee, hee.

Anyway, I wanted to share a little story board with you. I'm in the process of staging a house for the builder. When I stage a house and start shopping for furniture etc. I like to create a story board. This is the furniture etc. I want and then I print this and take it with me when I shop for accessories. This is the story board for the house I'm working on.

I will show you before and after pictures once I get to the staging part.

Now, as for followers. I just noticed I lost 84 followers of my blog since January 1st. I think people are getting away from blogging and blog reading. So many people have shut their blogs down. I find more and more people just don't have time. It's kind of sad really, but understandable. I will continue on here for now, but down the road, things may change. I find myself having less and less time to do all the things I need to do.

Anyway, I hope you are doing well.
Sending hugs,
Michelle and the fuzzy ones

You might find that the loss of followers is caused by blogger. To follow people now have to have a google account.

Bloggers are seeing the loss of followers and blogging about it.

I know alot of people are joining instagram and closing their blogs. People just do not have time these days to post on their blogs especially when no ones leaves a comment . I try to post a couple of times a month but I notice I have lost some followers too :-(

Blogger just made the change that Churn Dash mentions, last week. It was said that we could expect a drop in followers because the way they were following blogs was changed. I just noticed a decrease today. But that being said, many quilters are spending less time blogging and are posting on IG or maybe FB instead. I'm tempted to keep blogging because it's my only record of the quilts I've been making and I feel like I get to know other quilters better with it. I still enjoy the connection 🐇🐁❤️

Hi Shell, I look at it this way. I come by and visit if I have time. I might not leave a comment depending on where I am at. If I am on one of the kid's then I just read. I only comment when I am on my own and post as time allows. I am just finishing one custom order, and 4 more so my time is limited, but it feels good to be that busy. Two are wedding presents that they gave me more time to do for which I am very thankful. I read when I take a break. The fingers can get a little sore at times. I am anxiously awaiting for your new home to be finished. Take care. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley

I don't have facebook or instagram infact I don't even have an iPhone so I love blogging and reading blogs. People not having time is rather typical of instant gratification these days. People simply won't make the time to sit down with a cuppa and take a few minutes. Everything has to be on the go without a second to spare. I enjoy your blog even though I haven't checked in a lot. Thankyou for taking the time.

Busy busy! It is easy to get overwhelmed - sometimes with the wrong stuff. Just think it through well! (Advice from your doctor.)

Well you know, Blog is short for Web Log and that is really what the whole thing was started for. So a person on a trip, for instance, could post nice things as they moved along. Rapidly the Blog became many different things to many different folks and it is harder and harder to attract much of an audience to any one!

My friend with Art of the Pie has a web site and a periodic short newsy news-letter sort of thing and seems to keep in touch with a wide audience.

Hi Michelle!
I too lost a ton of followers and I'm sure it's because of Blogger! Don't worry about it...just have fun! It has nothing to do with how often you blog...believe me...WE ARE STILL HERE! :o)))

How fun to buy furniture and not have to pay for it. LOL

The loss of readers is because there's been a change to the Google Friend Connect. Readers must be using a Google email addy in order to use that now and many may not even realize they've been dropped off of the GFC.

Ohhhhh I would be so disappointed if you stopped your blogging! I love to hear all about your bunny and cat and new home and bunnyville and everything!

I spend less time blogging but still love doing it when I get the chance. I do love visiting blogs and try to comment when I can. I thinks its great to blog when it works for you and keep it simple if you need to. I love visiting and it will be fun to see the progress of your house staging.

I notice that many bloggers have gone to Instagramming, feeling that dropping a bunch of pictures is the equivalent of/is more fun than writing a blog post, I guess. I don't know--perhaps for some people it works. For me, even an occasional blog post is so much better, because I feel like a connection is made when you write something heartfelt and I then know you--and the bunnies, and your life--and care about you. So, I hope you'll continue to blog. We understand that you have a real life and responsibilities and can't be here constantly. I like thinking, "oh yes, it's Wednesday!" and even if it's a simple, "Hello--too busy to write much!", just seeing your name in my in box (and maybe a bunny pic every now and then) is a treat.

Hi Shell. If you head over to Mdm Samm's (www.sewwequilt.com/2016/01/update-on-your-followers-with-google.html) she has a bit of an explanation about the followers going missing. xx

I love reading your blog, I would miss it a lot if you had to stop! I only recently updated my blog after a year long break due to our move etc and I felt great getting back into it. Blog for pleasure when you have time, its your blog aferall and you shouldn't feel under any pressure. Xxxxx

I'd miss your blog if you stopped but understand if the need comes down the track. I've lost followers too. Not sure why. Guess it's any number of things. Hugs, xx

I've lost several followers even on my little blog, looks like the above comments pointed you towards Samm who has a good post on why so I'll just say we would miss you if you stop blogging but understand if that's what you need to do. Have you considered IG? It is faster but I miss the chatty posts.

Losing followers is not fun. As for people not blogging anymore because of lack of time, well, I was always taught that you make time for the things that interest you. As for myself, my blog is really a open journal/diary. It helps me remember where I was and how far I have come. It also lets me see the evolution of my quilting or lack there of.

Dropping down to once/week was hard enough; please don't leave us. I don't have a blog or FB page, but I do IG simply for the pictures. I know that keeping up a blog is a lot of work, but it provides more depth and more than a three-word reaction!

Thank you dear for continuing to blog for it is much more personal than any IG, FB or other such social media. Your staging design board is very smart and looks like the model home willbe lovely. Yes, the hours do creep up but I think it is because you have so much to offer and they need your expertise and positive personality. Do be sure to take care of YOU...

I read on another blog that blogger eliminated people who didn't use Google (I think that's what it was) so you haven't done anything - it's blogger

your story board is lovely - adore the couch

Guess what--I do not blog for how many bloggers I have--don't even know how many--I blog cause I enjoy doing so and know that I have some faithful readers--though about the same dozen or so leave comments--but that is ok--again don't blog for the comments (though they are nice to read!!) I blog for me--I love taking pictures of my works, finishes, and all the outside photos I take--and it gives me a goal--to keep on going--and I know that I have true friends in the blog world--
I live in a apt complex with about 80 other souls, yet I often feel alone as there is not anyone here (again) that has my same interests--
so if it wasn't for the blogging world I think I would be friendless--
anyways--these are my feelings on the subject--
have fun in that new job--
give the fur balls a hug from me--
love and laughter, di

DEAR ONE! NO FEAR! I am sure by now that you have heard it is NOT a loss of followers but a GLITCH in the Blogger system! It has to do with a shift over to another way to connect. I thought the same thing one day and unfortunately based on that misinformation, I QUIT MY BLOG!

WE LOVE YOU! And are ya having fun? Anita

I never pay attention to the number of followers my blog has, I'm more interested in how many people comment! There are so many alternatives to blogging these days and it's not surprising that people are putting their energies elsewhere. I've not intention of stopping blogging though! I hope you keep going with it for a good while too!

Having a part time job become full time is very annoying though, specially when you have other creative t hings to do with your time

I read your blog faithfully, just don't comment much. I miss all the blogs that have dropped out. Though I understand the time issue. I love you choices for staging the house, even though browns and tans are not my colors. I could live with you choices very happily.

I love reading your blog, it is just I don't always comment. And I love hearing about your job.

Can't wait to see your staging Michelle, I know it will be gorgeous! And your loss of followers is thanks to Google deciding that everyone who follows through the Google Friend Connect widget has to have a Gmail account or they are being chopped :O( It is most definitely not you and your missing followers probably aren't even aware they've been chopped. Silly Google! Deb xo

I enjoy reading your blog and have noticed that most bloggers are not posting as much. I do hope that most of them continue to post once in awhile as I am not on any other social media. I guess those of us that still read blogs need to comment more so that you know we do appreciate the time you put into your posts.

I LOVE your blog too! but many times I don't comment - I guess I'm more of a 'lurker' ;o) I will keep my fingers crossed that you keep blogging - how else will we know how Harrington and Sabrina are doing as well as seeing how your beautiful house is coming along or hearing Lyndsey Sterling's wonderful music?

Tina said...

I'm not sure what I did wrong but the 'comment' I just left didn't post. Anyway, PLEEZZZE keep your blog going. I love reading about Harrington, Sabrina, your creativity, and your house!!

I noticed my blog readers has dropped considerably too. I thought it was because I don't post very often. I am going to post more often. I love my blog and would feel sad to give it up.
