Quilt Festival Wrap Up

It's hard to believe it was a month ago I was at the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival! Boy is this year racing by at full speed!

Here are the final quilts on the tour. Enjoy!

"Sea Mates" made by Cathy Wiggins of Macon, NC.

This weeks critter quilt is "Caught in the Act" by Barbara McKie of Lyme, Ct.

"The Jennings Homestead" by the Milwaukee Art Quilters in Wauwatosa, WI.

"Vintage Button Boquet" by Linda M Roy of Knoxville, TN.
This quilt won best of show and looking at all that hand quilting and detail you can see why! Incredible!

"A time between times" by Sara Madson of Suffolk, VA.

For you art quilters out there is "Within...Dimensions" by Catherine Etter of the Colonial Piecemakers Guild.

"The Gilded Age" by Nancy L. Hovis of Lewes, DE. Love all the stitchery in this quilt!

"Be Dazzleder" by Lisa Sipes of Colby, KS

There are over 2000 Swarovski Crystals in this quilt!
Look at all that quilting! Whew!

And finally, a quilt for my friend, RG. Thought you might like the dragon. :) This quilt is called "William and Tony's Magical World" by Kristin Vierra of Lincoln, NE.

In closing I want to share this link with you that was shared with me by my friend, Judy in NC. Recently, Karen Combs, a traveling quilt teacher, lost all her quilts when her car was broken into. I'm sure the person that stole the box was disappointed to find quilts!

Here's the link and the story. Pass the word along. As quilter's we all know how heart breaking this would be. As a traveling quilt teacher, I also know what a horrible inmpact this would have on my business.

xx, Michelle

Truly amazing quilts. I saw the first one at Road To California this year (along with her Halloween themed quilt, which is also amazing). Thanks so much for sharing them!

those quilts are amazing.
my son has a cat who drinks from the faucet like the one in the quilt.
Isn't that horrible about Karen's quilts. She will be coming to our guild in Nov.

Beautiful quilts and I love the cat. It reminded me of a photograph with all the detail, so i looked her up and found her webpage, it is done with digital photography and then stitched, fun idea.

OMG, that kitty quilt looks so realistic!

Mick and I will be thinking many good thoughts for Karen recovering her stolen quilts. That is a shame.

The Jennings Homestead" quilt is fascinating with the "play on light" she did. Catherine Etter is a very talented lady and I have seen several of her art pieces before. Thanks for sharing the wonderful show and for the Karen Combs shout out. Worse nightmare ever for a traveling teacher. Judy C sending warm Spring wishes to you.

Shell, Thanks for sharing all of the beautiful quilts. There is a lot of work that goes into them. The talent is awesome and the designs. I wouldn't make a good judge because I like them all and I know you have to pick a winner. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by. Hugs from Your Missouri Friend. P.S. My bunny I won from you is sitting out for Easter.

I'm not sure how I managed to stumble upon this post but so glad that I did! I had not until this point seen ANY pictures of my quilt (BeDazzleder!) from the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival. I used to live in Newport News do I was excited that it got accepted but a little bummed to not see any pictures, so thank you!
