More from the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival

Ready for some more quilts? Let's get hopp'in!

This quilt called "A Felted Garden" was made by Vickie Clontz of Rockwell, NC.

I was so intrigued by all the fabulous texture on this quilt.

I loved how she used batiks to create the most interesting leaves.

Look at all the detail on those strawberries!

The vines and pea pods were so cool...

and I loved the pumpkins! This quilt was stunning to see in person. I hung out there for a long time enjoying each detail.

Next from Judith T Meyer of Richmond, VA we have "The Civil War Diary Quilt."

All those incredible blocks all perfectly pieced! Then all those quilted feathers in the borders! Whew! That sure is a lot of work!

This quilt by Jennifer Day of Santa Fe, New Mexico, is called "Layers of Memory." It was thread painted! I'm always in awe of folks that can do that. I'm terrible at it!

Of course, you know how I love critter quilts. Isn't this pig adorable? Look at all the fabrics that were used to make this quilt! The creator of this quilt, Shannon Shirley of Woodbridge, VA calls it "Stop and Smell the Flowers." I thought it was so sweet and it made me smile big!

Finally on our tour today is "On the Way to Grandmothers House" by Sheila Riess of Ellicott City, MD. I love the color in this quilt.

So which one is your favorite?

xx, Michelle

I am reallly drawn to the intense color saturated quilts like Way to Grandmother's House - may be an "age thing." Like you, I am intrigued with the texture of Vickie's quilt and so enjoyed looking around on her blog, Annie's Keepsakes. Thanks for sharing all the "wonderment" from the show - great pictures. Hi Shell,

Wow, there are some very talented people out there and a whole new meaning to quilting.
I love the strawberries and the Lady playing the violin, as that is what my Mother plays.

Happy week dear friend and many thanks for showing us all the beautiful quilts.
Hugs
Carolyn

I love the pig, Shell!

Shell, the polish for the aluminum is Loctite Aluminum Jelly and it is amazing. You brush it on, let it set for 5 minutes and wash it off. I repeated this if I thought it needed it and buffed the piece with a soft cloth.

Well, I have to admit, I miss our veggie patch, so the Felted Garden really tugged at my heart...but the pig made me smile, too, and the Civil War Diary has me just awed. They're all beautiful in their own way!
Thanks for sharing!!

These are all lovely quilts. Thank you for sharing them. The three dimensional one is so creative, and the Civil War Diary one - I can imagine the amount of time it took to make that one. And the thread painting - I need to learn that technique.

I think my favorite is the Felted Garden quilt. They are all amazing and inspiring. The tiny pieced Civil War Diary quilt is pretty great too. As a newbie quilter I am new to it but love to piece together small pieces of fabric and create a beautiful block.
