Hi there! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I sure did! The quilt festival was fabulous! So much to see and so much inspiration!
For the next couple of weeks, on Monday, I'll be sharing some photos of some of my favorite quilts. I will list the maker(s) of the quilts as well as the name of the quilts. I think it's important to give credit to the folks that created these beautiful pieces. Like music, I like a bunch of different styles, so there should be a quilt favorite for everyone!
So let's hop to it shall we? :)
Of course, I have to start out with a critter quilt. Last year there were lots of bunny quilts. This year, I didn't see any! Poo... but, this quilt caught my eye and made me smile big! It's thread painted. Cool huh? I could just about kiss those noses! hee, hee, hee. It's called "Look Who's Coming," and it was made by Deborah Droog from Forest VA. It made me think of my friend, Jeri Landers and her donkeys!
Next was this lovely applique quilt by Cissa Kamakura and Jan Struble of Chapel Hill, NC called "Birding." I loved the folky style and colors.
Then was this amazing quilt made by Kristin Vierra, Joahn Walman, Gloria Miller, Marie Clark and Sandi Kosch from Lincoln, NE. This quilt is called "Magic of the Rose." It is huge and absolutely stunning to see in person. See all the rose quilting?
Here's a close up of the roses and the Swavorski crystals on the roses. The whole piece sparkled in the light.
This was an amazing quilt made by Monika Scola from Ewa Beach, HI. It's called, "Welcome! E Komo Mai!" I love the flip flops!
Check out all the dimensional leaves, the butterfly, the lizard and all that quilting. It was so textural.
Finally for this week is a quilt made by Mary Chalmers of Wilmar, MN called, "In Praise of Wool." Since I'm having a love affair with wool now, this quilt truly got my attention.
Look at all the detailed stitching! Awesome!
So, are you inspired? Which is your favorite?
xx, Michelle
p.s. yes, the bunnies and papa were a bunch of slackers and lounged around the whole weekend. ;)

WOW, I love it when I am able to see photos from quilters. I love the donkeys, the welcome and the stitching in the last quilt - amazing.
Wow, thanks so much for sharing these! I love (LOVE!) to see quilts from quilt shows outside of my area. I would have to pick (gulp!) Welcome, Donkeys and wool....Put the slackers to work :-)
Beautiful, thanks for sharing the eye candy.
They are all spectacular in their own right and technique. How wonderful and thank you for sharing.
Lovely, lovely quilts! I can imagine they were even more gorgeous up close and personal.
Good for lounging bunnies and papa--I was a slacker, too, although now I have to fight the urge to keep on slacking off. :)
I like all of them, but the wool really caught my eye. Love all the embroidery on it.
Oh, they are all breathtaking! Such detailed quilting and piecework.
Thank you for showing us.
Hugs,
Susan
I too enjoyed the Mid-Atlantic show - I have been there every year since it started in Williamsburg. I took two wool classes
Re: your book. First a new book is reserved for my bedtime reading. Then it goes downstairs and I read it during lunch, then I share it with my weekly bee friends. It takes about 2 months for a new book to get on the shelf. I vote "real books".
What beautiful quilts. I just love the donkey's!

Beautiful quilts! My favorite has to be the donkeys!
Hi Shell:
I love them all, but I think the applique' "Birding" is my favorite. "In Praise of Wool" is also fabulous. The detail is incredible.
I worked our guild quilt show on Saturday and also saw some incredible work. I'll be writing about our show later in the week. I'm already thinking about what I'd like to do for the next one!
Thanks for sharing the photos. So much inspiration!

Pretty amazing. I couldnt begin to pick a favorite. Actually of course I can. I love the arched door.
Such diversity in the styles and a true pleasure to see. Thank you, Shell, for sharing all this wonderful - I have heard nothing but good things about the show. Judy C
Those are incredible quilts with so much detail and colour!
Love them all and the donkeys are really fun with their funny eyes. ;-)
I think the bird one is my very favourite with the reds and unusual design.
Lovely to visit you again, Shell. Thanks for sharing such beautiful works.
Hugs and love,
Jo.
Those make me want to turn in my quilting license - wow! Stunners, every one! Pick a favorite? I can't!!!
The quilt show is always so much fun!!! My favorite is "Welcome". It reminds me of Beauty and the Beast or something!
A wonderful display of talent. I love the donkeys! Glad you had a great mini quilt vacation.
I've never been to a quilt show, thanks so much for these photos. The donkey...I am in love. Also with that one that I can't remember how to pronounce much less spell!
Hi Shell, Your pictures are amazing and the quilts are beautiful. I don't know which one I like best, but the donkeys are adorable. There is a lot of work that goes into them and I love going to a quilt show, I just don't get to very often. The roses are beautiful. I will be looking forward to seeing more. Take care. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.
All are amazing but the wool one is my favourite... what a beautiful quilt, and that stitching!
Fabulous quilts, but I have to admit to being smitten with those donkeys!
I sent your package today... have fun!
Thanks for sharing the quilts. WOW, you got to see, Magic of the Rose. It's beautiful, just like the talented quilters that made it.
Loved "Magic of the Rose"! Is there any way I can get the pattern for this beautiful quilt?
