Helloooooooooo and welcome to my little tour of the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival. Over the next few days I will share some photos of my favorite quilts. As always, I was blown away by the incredible talent. I enjoy all kinds of quilts from traditional to contemporary to mix media. So, let's get on with the tour!
This first quilt caught my eye because of the applique. I looooooooove applique and Baltimore Blocks. This piece was huge! It was entirely hand appliqued and hand quilted! Hello!!!
While I was admiring it, reading the information about it and thinking to myself, oh my gosh is this gorgeous, and then saying, how it totally deserved the blue ribbon, the lady that made it came up behind me!!!! Get out!!!! How cool is that!!! If I wasn't afraid of scaring her away, I would have done the happy bunny dance! Instead I remained calm and asked her for a photo with her quilt.
I would like to introduce you to Leona Unkle. Isn't she the cutest! Congratulations on your blue ribbon Leona, you truly deserve it for such an incredible work of art!
This was my favorite block. Ya'll know I'm loving hearts and I love friends. :)
Next, is this fun quilt made by Shannon Shirley. I'm sure you don't need any explanation as to why I liked it. hee,hee,hee.
This was my favorite block. I think he looks like Harrington. Check out the cute carrot fabric!! Sweet!
Finally for today is this handsome fella. His name is Jeff Cleveland. He does beading and I mean incredible beading! Zoom in on this picture and check out the piece he is working on! He said, "all you have to do is be able to count and you can do this." Yeah and ya need incredible patience too!! There was an area set up for demo's on beading and spinning wool. It was wonderful to watch these artisans.

Gorgeous applique'! I'm in awe of her talent. I, too, love the bunny quilt. Makes me smile. Especially that yo-yo tail! I've tried my hand at beading. Guys do the most immaculate and exacting work. I saw it when male needleworkers used to come into my shop. Perfectionists, they are!

I love the Baltimore Album quilt, however, it does intimidate one - while I know I would have had a lot of fun making the bunny quilt. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I miss not going to the show this year and sure I am still paying off last year's purchases. LoL. Judy C

I love the rabbit quilt, but my favorite is the guy with his big back feet in the air!
Oh, man!! This Baltimore Album quilt makes me want to learn to applique!! But, as you said about the beading, it takes patience and that is NOT a skill I have perfected yet!! A long way from that "P" word!! And of course, the bunny quilt is absolutely fabulous!! Looking forward to tomorrow's selections!! And Jeff is darling!! Kris

That Baltimore Album quilt is gorgeous, and looks like it is probably bigger than my living room! The bunny quilt---totally fantastic. I think the Harrington block is adorable, but I have to go for those great big feet being shown off in the embroidery block. Love 'em!

The baltimore quilt is stunning and I just love to see a man crafting! My hubby just doens't get my addiction to stitching.
This looks like such a fun show...I like the bunny blocks best, too.

Hi Shell, Thanks for stopping by. Your quilts are so pretty. I like the first one with all of the appliques on it. I learned to hand quilt a long time ago with my mother I don't know if I could do it now or not. Of course we can't leave out the precious rabbit quilt. I will be looking forward to your next post. I love to go to the quilt shows in our area just to see them and the people that make them. I have a queen size quilt top that I have embroidered. I just need to find the right person to quilt it for me. Take care My friend. Your Missouri Friend.
Wow - some quilts! And - finally - a craft I have actually done, although a long time ago. The Beading! Had a hand-made loom that was quite like his there. And, look at the beading pieces hanging up there. Lots of design and work - oh and expense. Those little glass babies aren't real cheap!
How can you get better than hand made bunny quilts?
