Happy 50th to my Honey Bunny and How perfectly Weird is That!

Today David, my honey bunny of 21 years turns 50! Yes 50! It really feels like yesterday we were celebrating his 30th. Dag...the gas petal sure does get mashed down fast after the 30 mark! David really is just a big kid and a pretty simple guy that everyone loves.

All he wanted for his big 50 was car parts for his 1969 Camaro. No big hoopla, no trip, just car parts and fun food with furn friends that love him. So why make things complicated. The man is getting exactly what he wants!

He also wishes for the same darn thing every single year.....

The Lottery!

Last Saturday I drug David to a community yard sale down the street. He hates yard sales, but agreed to go because he had nothing better to do and secretly he was thinking someone might have car parts or big boy toys for sale! Nope...no such luck.

Anyway, on our way home in my car, the "Bunnymobile," as we call it, I told him to drive down this road we haven't been down in a while. We came around the bend to find this!

A house that burned several years ago, a dead tree and big ol creepy vulchers sitting in the dead tree!!! How perfectly weird is that! I told David to floor it, get me home to get the camera. When we got back, three of the big buzzards had flown away, but two were still there.

Then this guy took off in flight. David said, "Shell he thinks your a bunny, you better get back in the Bunnymobile." Ha, ha, ha... Mr. Smarty. I told David, "no honey....he's leaving to go get ready for your birthday!!"

Happy 50th my honey bunny. I love you more every single day and I can't imagine my life without you in it. Here's to 50 more! Oh...but you will be eating much more healthy food after this naughty food party! ;)
Love you to the moon and back!

Razzy...are you Listening???

Sugie speaking...
"So I overheard mama talking about Daddy's 50th birthday this Friday. She is planning some fun things for him with all their goofy human friends. Something about all of Daddy's favorite foods like hot dogs, hamburgers and naughty sweet cake. Mama says Daddy may be turning 50, but he is really a big ol' kid at heart and eats like one too!

Blah, blah, blah...blah...blah...blah...blah....

Razzy......are you listening??????

Men! Doesn't matter if they are human or fuzzy. Ridiculous!

Stitch'in on the Porch and No more Naked Dinner

The pollen has finally stopped blowing through the air like a feather duster being shaken out. Our back porch is clean and we picked up a few new things from yard sales to cozy it up a bit. Plus, the weather has been down right gorgeous for porch sitting.

One of my most favorite things to do is sit back here and stitch. I love listening to the wind, watching the critters in the trees and the pond and smelling my magnolia tree and gardenia bush that are in bloom. It's just a peaceful place to sit and stitch.

This bird bath was given to me a long time ago by my friend Lyd. It use to be in the yard, but one day I got this big idea to use it as a cocktail table on the porch. So, I cleaned all the poo off and schlepped the thing out of the yard, up the steps and onto the porch. Mind you, it's concrete...heavy concrete. I then took these really cool glass pepple things and put them in the bath and then placed a piece of glass over the top to make the table. David came home and instead of saying how pretty it looked, he simply asked me, "how bad did you hurt yourself getting in it here?" He says my arms are chicken wings and not meant to carry heavy things. Well...dag nab bit, I got the darn thing up here didn't I! Ouchie.....

I love how the colors of the pebble things match my new pillows perfectly! Yes, I did that on purpose. You know how I am. hee, hee, hee. That cute little bun came from Tuesday morning. A whopping $6!
Ok...so now on to the reason you're really here reading this post. The no more Naked Dinner part. Yeah, yeah, I know that's what got your attention! You know who you are! hee, hee, hee. Well don't get too excited, this is a "G" rated blog.

You see, David and I love to eat on the porch as much as possible. Our kitchen is also right off the porch and we eat dinner at the kitchen bar when it's cold. We also eat dinner around 7:00 p.m. so most of the time it's dark or almost dark, except of course in the Summer..you get the picture. Well anyway, the people that built the house behind ours put in a "full length" glass block window in their bathroom. Me being in new home building, knew this was not going to be good. Oh dear... Their bathroom window faces our porch and kitchen. Now...construction tip here people...glass block just "diffuses" the image, it's NOT totally private!!! So...even though we can't actually see all the "details"...we can still see that you are naked in the bathroom and sometimes naked together in the bathroom!!!!! Then to make it even more entertaining, they always seem to take their shower's when we are eating dinner.
 Thus..."Naked Dinner."
But last week they started constructing this new garden shed that totally blocks the full glass block window from our view. So there ya have it. No more Naked Dinner. I bet you were thinking something else weren't you??? Naughty....hee,hee,hee.

Peaceful, Easy, Weekend

Mama wanted to thank all of you for your well wishes on her dentist appointment. Her new "temporary" front teeth are in. She thought the temporary teeth might look like cute bunny toof's, but alas, they look more like donkey teeth. Oh well....they're only temporary for a few weeks.

Have a Peaceful, Easy Weekend.
Love,
Sugie
p.s. if you're wondering why mama has new teeth, it's because that cute little pony from the earlier post kicked out her front teeth and bone when she was 10. Naughty, cute, pony. Mama has had her current toof's for 22 years and they needed to leave.

She made me wear a Dress, I want to hide under the Bed

So I get invited to this shin dig for my girlfriend that just made Captain in the Navy. I'm really proud of her and her accomplishment and I now fondly call her "Captain." She tells me it is the Nurse Corps birthday event and her husband does not want to go as he wants to go to a Harley motorcycle event. So I agree to be her date. But wait.....what do I have to wear???? A dress!!! Awww man....I hate dresses!!! I don't even own a dress!!! I haven't worn a dress in years!!! Gag!!!

I have been a tomboy my entire life and as I said in prior posts, I could wear blue jeans 365 days a year and be totally happy. Since I have worked in construction, never really go anywhere or have occasion to dress up, this usually works out great in my little life. But not this time. A dress...great...now I have to go and try to find a darn dress.

When I was a kid, my mom would make me wear a dress when we would go visit people. I would cry, and pout, throw a tantrum and go hide under the bed in the stupid dress. I wanted to go play kickball or climb a tree or build a fort with the boys, not sit all ladylike in a dumb dress being bored! This is me at age 9 in my favorite outfit. ;)

The problem is my size and my age. Women's clothes and even most petite women's clothes are too big for me. Dresses are the worst. So I normally head to the teens department. Let's just say a 42 year old woman in a dress made for a teenager is not a good look and now even the teenagers are more curvy and bigger.

My good friend, Lyd, spent an entire day with me helping me try on dumb dresses. She told me she hadn't laughed that hard in years. Of course it may have been the fact that I wore black socks that day and left them on with the dresses. She said, "Shell, I will never be envious of your small size again. While this has been hysterical, it has also been awful trying to "dress" you up." Don't I know it.

We finally found this dress in the teenager section and I figured we should go with it as it fit OK and Lyd didn't fall over laughing.

Dag....those are some seriously white legs and that bruise is still there from where I banged the pudd'in out of my knee!

All grown up and still a tomboy in a dress. I did this for you Captain...now I want to go hide under the bed.

Your Opinions, My Decision and Simply Serene

Well I have to say that ya'll are just soooooo much fun!!!! I loved reading all your opinions and I wanted to share some of the ideas with you. Thank you very much for your ideas and comments!

First, many of you asked to see the entire quilt unfolded. This is my Rococo Rabbits #1 pattern. I haven't finished writing the pattern yet as I wasn't sure if it was something that people (quilters) would like to buy and make for themselves. Let me know if you think I should finish writing the pattern. You do know they are bunnies right? Ears and feet joined together.

Next, there was a suggestion to fold it in thirds and lay it on the couch. This looks ok, but it doesn't "wow" me because this quilt is pretty big and I think it sticks out too far this way.

Another suggestion was to fold it over the arm of the couch. Again, this looks too big there too.

So what did I decide??? Well, it's like this. Like I said in earlier posts, I have worked in interior design for a long time and have decorated houses for lots of different styles. I have learned that we all have our "comfort, happy, homey" look. Quilters tend to have lots of fabric and clutter and big cozy hearts. Others like lots and lots of color and warmth and they have the warm personality to match. Then there are the super modern folks that like all white and no clutter because they need calm and peacefulness in their hectic, uptight, world. There are more, but only these 3 relate to this story. hee, hee, hee.

So what is my style? Well, it's somewhere in the middle. I love white and how it makes me feel. I like specific clutter, meaning things that speak to me and usually larger scale items, not a lot of nick knacks. I like just a hint or splash of color and not a lot of pattern, just soft flowing lines and texture. Several of my long time readers know my style, but I've finally decided on a name for it, "Simply Serene."

So...I will take the left over yummy fabric and make myself two really big quilted pillows that can be laid on, cuddled, squished and washed. They will give me just enough color and pattern without being overload on my eyes. They will tie the colors of the rug in, yet not compete with the color of the drapes in the background.  They will be "Simply Serene."

Thanks again my friends. Ya'll truly are soooooooooo much fun!
Love ya bunches!
Michelle

With or Without? Your opinion?

Here is my couch with my new quilt that I just finished putting the binding on. While it is convenient to have the quilt here for nap purposes (yeah right, like that ever happens), the "clutter free" person in me tends to like the couch without it. I think it looks more elegant without it.

I was just wondering what your opinion was? With or without?

A Sentimental Journey Block 5, Dreams, Friends and a Little Faith

Here we go! May already! Can you believe it??? This month my Sentiment is about Dreams. Since I'm embarking on a new chapter in my life (scroll down to Thursday's post if you missed it), I thought this was the perfect quote to start with.

Click here or on the link on my sidebar to take you to my website to collect your free stitchery.

I decided to make something for this months giveaway because my friends always make my life so wonderful and always bring me so much happiness. I'm truly blessed to be surrounded by incredible people in real life and in blogland. This stitchery was created for you!

Then I thought about how much bunnies mean to me and how much joy they bring to my life. In fact, today I am volunteering at the Cape Fear House Rabbit Society "bunny booth" at Paw Jam in Wilmington NC. I wanted to start off my new life doing something that is meaningful and at the same time makes me so happy!

So this is Faith. Isn't she just the cutest thing!?? She is Franklin's (from last months giveaway) little friend. I thought she was perfect for this month's giveaway as I will just have a little "Faith" that all will be well in the next chapter of my life as I follow my bliss. The bunnies will play a big part in it.

Ok...so all you have to do to register is leave a comment on This post. If you sign up to become a follower, (look at my sidebar on the left) you are counted twice. If you are a follower, you are counted twice. If you bring a friend and they become a follower, you will get counted again! That would be 3 times! So please be sure and say "I'm following" in your comment and if your friend becomes a follower, make sure they give you the credit by putting your name in the comment. This makes it easier for me to count! Remember, I don't like math! hee, hee, hee.

I will pick the winner on Sunday, May 9th, Mothers Day! Good Luck!

Lady Hannah Goldenhare - Nothing Gold Can Stay

Hello dear friends, It's been a minute hasn't it? My last post was over a year ago. I decided I wanted to stay in my bubble where it...
