So this week my Wild Hare involves the evolution of my foyer. The constant tweaking, twitching, rearranging and then the downright... hello sister... what the heck, reality check!
You see, when you stop listening to your own heart and your own voice and listen to others; when you lose track of who you really are, what you really love; when you get downright sucked into a fad, you never feel quite settled. You keep twisting, tweaking changing and then suddenly Viola'! You finally get it. You listen and you remember....
The Victorian fainting couch style with the beautiful mural fondly called (The Wall of Commitment" because it was hand painted by a Russian artist that sucked me into it and it cost a bundle so therefore I felt committed to keep it! Like forever!!! Like ever!!! Dag!!!).
While it did serve as a great photo op with the nieces and nephew, (yes we are all fainting on the fainting couch, hee, hee, hee) it was just too way formal for me. I'm a blue jeans and clogs girl for Pete's sake! I do love this photo though. It's a treasure!
Next we move on to the display cabinet with antique chair (the chair that the bottom is falling out of, the springs are shot, there is that nasty Naugahyde crappy fabric on it and David fondly refers to it as "Stinky Chair" because...well... it stinks). However, the green looks nice with the green in "The Wall of Commitment."
Next we remove the icky green "never gonna recover, stinky chair" and replace it with something a little more "me," simple and clean. We also replace the items in the display cabinet and change the positioning of items and photo on top of display cabinet. Again... all trying to deal with... you guessed it "The Wall of Commitment." Oh brother.....
Finally.... I bring you to now. To hell with "The Wall of Commitment"... paint over it already and move on with your life woman!!! You can rearrange all you want and you still won't like it! Get a grip you dorkwad!! I truly love Calm, Clean and Serene. I like Zen. Ahhh yes, Zen... Zen in 2010. I remembered... I love white and shades of white. I love monochromatic decorating. This is me. I may add some beautiful pictures from Ballard Designs, but until then I'm happy. Hello old friend... it's been a while.

Your house should be featured in a homes and gardens magazine!
Beautiful!

I'm more casual too, but wow, do i WANT that couch. ;)
(while the bunnies would love to chew on it and rip at the fabric)
Shell, I love the white!!! Now this is more you! I do think it is so serene and very "Zen"!!!
Hugs,

I liked the wall....anyhow I tottally jinxed myself saying oh I can go get french macaroons at the grocery store whenever APPARENTLY NOT! ugh.
Oh -Wow - that's stunning! I love the white one though, it is so Shell! (You couldn't just pop across the pond and sort out my place could you?)
I love the different shades of one color, too. The other looked too 'busy' for me.
You are in the Zen mode now. :)
I love the transformation. Where's the fainting couch now?
BTW I so hate that Tina person. I bet she doesn't have buns. LOL. Well anyway I hope she enjoys Spunky and I am sure she deserve it more than me since I won last time. It was fun to try though. Enjoy Tina I shall visit and give true congrats.
Doesn't blogger annoy sometimes but seriously you sure you read it right you know it really might have been my name you sure? LOL.
I had a wild hare idea I'll post tomorrow.
Have a Blessed Evening,
Sherry
Sigh!!!!!! To each her own, grin, but I loved the wall the way it was, shame I couldn't have just cut the wall out and brought it to my home, grin. Oh yes I love the fainting couch! Not that I am the fainting type, grin.BarbM
Thank you for stopping by the blog. It is nice to find yours as well. Love the white!!!!!
I chuckled all the time I read your blog. I do like your make over, but I, also, loved your fainting couch. I started reading the Wild Hare Wednesday blogs and I truly enjoy them so much. Thank you for sharing. A Missouri Friend
I lOVE the new look. Your story is so funny. Loved the Zen in 2010... Poet & don't know it. :)
Wish I could do an all white pallet. Just won't work in my house with my furniture. And Hubby loves wood. My friend Lisa says "just because it's wood doesn't mean it's good" but, tell HIM that. Hugs!

Shell:
I love your transformation from Wall of Commitment to your Zen Wall. It look fabulous!
Apologies for missing my Wednesday post. I wrote my "pre-post" in anticipation of being away from my computer for surgery and just forgot about my Wednesday commitment. I'll really make up for it next week, my dear!
Love and hugs,
Donna
Shell,
I love the photo of you and your nephew and neices. They are all so adorable to do what you wanted them to do - pretending to faint! Too adorable!!

Hi! Shell...LOVE the couch and the new look..LOL
you make me *giggle*
hugs, Cindy:)
Beautiful Michelle! Its so warm and inviting. I'd be scared to do white in my house. The kids, husband and dog would have it wrecked in 5 minutes!
Love it Shell! It feels less fussy and much more clean and updated. Much more you. Great job!
