Taking a little break

Hi ya.

Thank you all so very much for your kindness, friendship and love on the loss of Harrington. I had fully intended to write a post for today, but honestly, I just don't feel like it. The words just aren't there.  So instead, I will give you a little update.

I'm almost finished packing. All I have left is Bunnyville. We will start moving next Wednesday the 1st and be in Wilmington for good on the 4th.

Hannah is doing ok. Sweet little thing she is. Several people have asked me if I will get her a new friend. The answer is no. Not that I wouldn't if I felt she needed it, but the fact is, she is older and her disease is something that can easily be spread to a new bunny. Harrington seemed to be immune to it. So, since Hannah is eating and seems to be doing just fine with extra snuggles from me, I am not going to upset the apple cart. Not to mention, I am going to be living in tight quarters for the next six months and I'm still keeping Hannah and Sabrina kitty separated.

Don' worry. I'm doing ok, I am just trying to focus on the journey ahead. I will be sharing new adventures from Wilmington with you and I'm looking forward to it.

So, hugs and I'll see you next Wednesday.

Michelle

Continued hugs and good thoughts to you Michele! Moving can be so stressful on its own and then to lose a pet you loved so very much, I can totally understand. Don't worry about the blog; we'll all still be here when you are ready.

Taking time for healing and moving on your new adventure is just what you should be doing dear. So thankful Hannah is doing well and getting extra snuggles from you. This is all bittersweet for you and someday you will look back and know how much stronger you became from this journey. HUGS and Healing Energy Dear One...

All those who know and love you through your blogs (or in person)understand completely. So much is changing in your life right now - happy, sad and exciting. Sometimes you just need time.
Sending love across the miles. (You'd better give me your new address, too, Shelby Marie - as I will you after we move!)

Thanks for checking in. I've been wondering about Hannah. Your plan sounds absolutely sensible, and I'm certain you and David know what's right for your family. I was at our vet this week, and she was talking about how their home has changed since their exchange student daughter returned to Europe. My vet is really missing their sweet girl, and several people had suggested that she should hurry and apply for another student for next year. No, she said, she was going to "feel the space" where the girl she loved had been and just honor that place in their family for awhile before they filled it up with someone else.

That's always how I feel when we lose a pet. If Hannah had needed a companion, that would be one thing. (Chickens can be like that, devastated without a companion, although the gal we have now is incredibly independent, bless her resilient heart.) But otherwise, I want to get another dog when I am wanting a dog, not when I am still longing so deeply for the dog who is gone.

So, for awhile you can give Sabrina and Hannah some extra loving, focus some attention on moving and settling in, and know that there's a circle of us here, gathered all around.

My dear, dear friend,

I hope that your packing up, especially of Bunnyville, will go smoothly. May the memories pack up with you, taking the best of what you had, what you still have in your heart.

Words don't come easy. They will come like a flood when it's time.

We moved to North Carolina in 2002 from Colorado on July 4th - 9 pm we were almost to Jacksonville with a rental moving truck towing my car; our suburban towing a travel trailor; son Jeff's truck towing a smaller trailor and we had walkie talkie's between each car; fireworks were going off all round us and I put "Christmas in Dixie" in the CD player and played it over and over. We were so happy we were almost at the end of our journey and finally in NC. It has become a tradition to play Christmas in Dixie every July 4th. What a trip!!! Full of love, anticipation, hope and starting a new adventure. Remember, it will be worth it, try not to take any obstacle seriously and enjoy the journey because the end is worth it. Extra hugs and Love to you and Hannah during this sad time from Judy C

I'm so sorry to hear about Harrington. I totally understand how you feel, having lost a furry family member a few years ago. I think you've made the right decision about Hannah. I'll keep you and your family and especially Hannah in my prayers and I'll think about Harrington when I look at my wall hanging.

I am so very sorry about Harrington. I recently lost my black bunny named Audrey. He was sick only a couple of days. I guessed it might have been his stomach also.
I am sending Love and Prayers for a safe trip to your new home. Sweet Hugs.
Love to Hannah and Sabrina.

Thanks for the tour! It's beautiful there...much prettier than I remember. I went there some 30-odd years ago, actually stayed on Wrightsville Beach and went to Southport for the day. I'm a committed tree-hugger too, though no live oaks around here. My silver maple is a PITA, tossing little twigs in every storm, but it's worth its weight in gold so far as shade goes. It keeps the backyard ten to fifteen degrees cooler in the summer!
