Welcome to Wonderland Woods!

Happy New Year my friend! I'm so excited for this year! I don't know why, but I feel like it's going to be so much fun and filled with some really happy times. I'm traveling all over to teach my "Folk Art Fusion." I love meeting new people and I love inspiring creativity.

Speaking of inspiring creativity, I am delighted to welcome you to "Wonderland Woods!"

Once again, I was inspired by Jules' watercolor paintings. She is such a talented artist and one I am ever so lucky to call my friend! It was really fun turning her paintings into 3-D. I worked on the blocks and the design from August right up until Christmas Eve when I finished writing the last page of the 50 page e-book.

The e-book not only contains written instructions for all the blocks, but it also contains full-color photos for those who find it easy to look and learn from a picture. In addition, it contains Jules' watercolor paintings and a story to go with each one!

Here's a sampling of the story about the Ancient Oak Tree.

"In the middle of the wood stands the oak tree. It has been here for many years, since the acorn fell which gave it birth. The world beyond the wood has changed, but the oak tree still stands tall and strong. It is guardian, protector, and giver of life to many creatures, great and small. Twisting branches offer shade and protection, leaves and bark give food and shelter, roots dig deep into the earth below.

The sentinel of the wood, it watches as day turns to night, and the seasons change."

As I mentioned, each block/animal has its own story that ties back to the Ancient Oak. I wanted to relate this in the finished piece and thus, the idea for attaching the blocks together with leaves came to be.

When I was making this art quilt, I thought about all nature lovers out there who would enjoy making these blocks. I thought about how it would be a super cool project for a grandmother to make for a grandchild's room and how she could point out the animals as she was reading the stories aloud. I also thought about how much I loved these animals and the different ways they could be used if I didn't necessarily want a wall hanging.

That being said, I will be sharing some of the other creative things I do with the animals over this coming year. In addition, I encourage you to share what you do with them!

I have an unlimited supply of e-books, but I only have 3 wool kits left and a few thread kits. So if you would like the e-book and one of those kits before they're gone, hop on over HERE

I wish you a very HAPPY and creative new year! I'm looking forward to all the adventures to come!

Light, love and friends,
Michelle and the bunnies

Hello my dear, dear Shell! Bunny lady extraordinary, lover of nature and all things furry and friendly! That motif is a never-ending symbol of how ancient of a tie we have with nature and how we simply cannot live without the inspiration nature provides. Your whimsy adds joy and ignites the imagination. I LOVE how you hung the piece from a gorgeous branch. Absolutely brilliant.

I am SO close to hitting the Buy Now button for this whole project, but I am very much a beginner when it comes to this type of needlework. Would you say it's too advanced for someone like me? Can you let me know what I'm getting into, lol!

A great bunch of related items and theme!

I would not make some of them into potholders unless I framed them because BL seems to think potholders are for mopping up spills and using for stir-spoon holders!

I love all these animals and the woodland theme! I was thinking of doing some pottery/ sculpture on a similar theme.

Love all your creatures large and small. But my favorite block in this collection is the ancient oak. You are so very creative.
