Celebrating 7 years of blogging with a Giveaway!

Honestly, I cannot believe I started this blog seven years ago! I remember watching the movie Julie and Julia and being inspired to start a blog.

Back then I wasn't really sure what I would write about. I was a project manager/interior decorator for a custom home builder. Most of what I wrote about was house stuff. When I look back through my posts, I have to laugh over all the interior design changes my house has gone through, not to mention my hairstyle changes! :)

It's funny how blogging became my "open diary." A place where I share my ups, my downs, my bunnies and my dorkiness with you. It's amazing to see how my posts and words back then were all part of the path to bring me to this place, this little moment.

Time won't slow down (Sydney Snail in my driveway one night). It just goes by faster and faster. Lately, I find myself singing this from Rob Thomas.

"Our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists and turns of fate.
Time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain."

I can't help but feel that my blog is simply that. A place where little moments of my life remain, like capturing the moon in the middle of the day.

So in celebration of seven years of blogging moments, I am giving away this 100% wool charm pack from National Nonwovens and

my Valdani hand-dyed, size 12, Folk Art Fusion,

pearl cotton collection.

The past seven years have brought many changes to the blogging world. I use to read blogs as a hobby. It was a way to relax after a 12 hour day working in construction. Now that I work for myself, I'm lucky if I can visit with my blog friends once a month. I'm wondering if it is the same for you? Do you read blogs anymore, or do you spend most of your time on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest where you don't really have to comment?

With that question in mind, to enter the giveaway, leave a comment on this post letting me know if you still read blogs or if you spend your time on other social media sites. The bunnies, kittens, Sabrina and I will use the Random Number Generator to select the winner this Friday, September 12. This giveaway is open to all our friends around the world.

Enjoy this video of Small Hours by Rob Thomas.

Thank you for being part of the little wonders and small hours of my life.

Light, love and hugs to you,
Michelle

I still read most of the blogs I like to visit. I visit Pinterest occasionally and only do FB with my kids to keep in touch with them. I enjoy your blogs and news of the bunnies. Thanks!

Whoa....congrats on 7 years.....I still read blogs and blog....I am often guilty of doing lots of reading and not much commenting. I don't do much Facebooking and absolutely no twitter...no Pintrest either.....gosh Internet can really eat up time if we are not careful
What a generous prize pack you have offered. I hope the folks who have dropped by and are new to your site will take time to investigate some of your older posts and enjoy all of the bunny goodness as well

I definitely love to read blogs, even though the majority of my time is spent on Facebook. And I don't even dare visit Pinterest unless I have several hours to devote to it. I love all 3 media's, Even though I am on Facebook and Pinterest a lot, I still get more excited over visiting someone's blog where I share a common interest with them. Like wool :) It makes me feel like I've been invited into someones home for a cup of tea with a friend. Can't get any better than that.

As with alot of us there is not enough time in the day to do it all, so I limit my time online for just my favorite bloggers, and scan threw facebook only once a day. If I didn't I would not have time to quilt or to handstitch on wool. Congrats on 7 years!!!

Congratulations on 7 years! I enjoy reading blogs!

Happy Blogiversary! I'm so happy I found you, and I tend to read the blogs more. As some of the other ladies mentioned, our fellow bloggers are usually more thoughtful and meaningful in their entries and I prefer intelligent reading if I can get it. Or pictures of kittens or rabbits. I hope DK finds a home soon or your bunnies may end up with a little kitten brother!

Wow- congratulations! I mostly do IG and Facebook, but occasionally read blogs. I just rarely have enough time to get through a whole blog post, so the other ways are so much faster.

I follow a few blogs which I enjoy reading over Facebook. I am usually Pinterest several times a week. I look forward to reading your blog now. Congrats on 7 years.

Congratulations! 7 years!!! Fairly new to blogging myself. I'm more familiar with facebook. Want to let you know your wool and valdani thread is absolutely beautiful.

I read blogs every evening right after my dinner. I am retired and it's my way of staying in touch the outside world.

I spend my time equally between reading blogs and Facebook but recently a little more on Facebook because of time restraints. Love reading your blog tho....

I do both but I end up more on social media than I would like to.

Wow, 7 years!! Well, you were just a baby when you first started!! LOL!! I am sad to say that with a new, job and the mandatory naps I have to take because I can't see straight at the end of the day, I can't even post on my own blog let alone read other blogs. There are a few blogs I try to keep up with, but I'm not always so good even at that!! CONTRATULATIONS, my dear, you have grown a lot over the past 7 years!!

Helen said...

Congratulations on 7 yrs. I would love to try that pearl cotton to do some primitive hand quilting.

Yes I still read blogs because I am not on facebook or any other social media. Right now I am a little behind because I was out of town last week and had no internet access. Congratulations on your seven year anniversary. I have not been following you for seven years but am so glad I found your blog as you are one of my favorite bloggers. I like reading blogs because I think you can get a better sense of who the person truly is. I went back and read your very first post and not only did you have much lighter hair but you said that some day you hoped to be your own boss and creating art. Well, you have achieved that and should be so proud of what you have accomplished. I hope that you continue to write blog posts as yours are among the best out there.

gardenladyinutah said...

I love reading blogs. But I try to limit my time. I've been stitching on a block of the week from primitive gatherings and I love using Valdani threads.

I certainly spend time on Facebook, Pinterest, etc, but I prefer blogs. Thanks for sharing your blog with all of us!

I love reading your blog and hearing about you and the bunnies. Your blog is a joy to read! Congrats to you on 7 years of blogging. I love your artwork. Have a great day!

Yes, I read blogs. Sometimes when I'm tired, I just browse through the beautiful pictures. But most of the time I like to get the next installment of someone else's life, the ups and downs, the creative sparks. They move me to get back to doing something creative. It's too easy to just go for the eye candy and skip the inspiration.

Seven years!! I'm exclusively read blogs with a little bit of family Instagram input. Following gifted artists like you is such inspiration! Yours is especially unique and the photos are incredible! Look forward to at least seven more years. Don't go back to construction!

Yes, I still read blogs, though a lot of my favorites have stopped posting. I found you through a link from The Houseful of Rabbits.I continue to read your blog because of rabbits, quilts, flowers, cats, turtles, peeps......etc. I love the diversity you put in "the Raspberry Rabbits".

Congratulations on 7 wonderful years of blogging Michelle. :) I may look at Facebook once or twice a week - or not. As I don't blog, my Facebook page is something of a craft diary, where I friend only people that I know personally or those I have had some kind of contact with. Reading my chosen crafting and travel blogs is one of my favourite relaxing and inspiring things to do. A great thing is that over time, familiar bloggers become more like friends than just words on a page. The generosity of bloggers, such as yourself Michelle, is truly amazing and greatly appreciated.

I still read blogs more than any other social media. I love the pictures and to see what people are creating.

I love reading my blog list, but it is huge, so a lot of time I don't write comments, especially if they already have a few comments, I don't own a cell phone so no twitter or Intsagram for me and Facebook is only family. So only blogs for me.

I am still a blog reader, Michelle. I just don't think I'll find the same feeling of connection if I'm speeding through photos on Instagram, which seems to be the place everyone is headed.

Love to you and those bunnies and kittens.

I miss reading blogs too! My little bit of computer time is spent on FB this time of year! Over the Winter I do catch up on blogging! A wonderful giveaway and Oh... by the way! I found your blog on FB!

I don't spend as much time on blogs as I used to but then again I don't spend as much time on the computer as I used to. Congrats on 7 years of blogging.

I have only just begun my adventure on FB, I have blogging friends that insisted I needed to be on there. I read blogs and commenting on them...there are cases where time is short and I won't leave a comment and there are times a week will go by before I have a chance to get caught up...such as now! But, I think that will be the same for FB, I don't want to be one that has my phone constantly near by so I can see what everyone is doing....quite frankly Scarlett, I don't give a ----! There are only a few hours in the day to be productive and the older I get the shorter those hours seem to be....creating is what brings me joy.
Your lovely wool pack and threads look like they would be dreamy to work with. Glad you watched Julie and Julia to begin your journey here. My daughter and I love that movie.
xo,
Deb

I have read and loved your blog for years. It has everything I love: beauty, creativity, humor, and especially bunnies! Your kind heart, fantastic sense of humor and wonderful spirit come through on every post. Thank you for this bright spot on the internet!

Well, I guess the findings in your comments will be slightly skewed, since we are all reading your blog and commenting... :) I read blogs. I love reading blogs. I've found such a nice community of people in the quilting blogs I've started reading this past year, that really fills a missing spot in my life, since none of my friends sew. Thank you for your posts! sarah@forrussia.org

Congratulations on 7 years! I love to read blogs. Other social media doesn't let you post tutorials or recipes or longer forms of communication.

I'm something of a Luddite, I guess! I love to read blogs, but don't have one of my own, recently took a break from Facebook. Don't tweet, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. But I LOVE the wool bundle and Valdani thread. Two of my very favorite things! Thanks for the opportunity to win this great giveaway.
