One of a kind Wednesday - Helping Hannah

Helloooooooooooooo welcome to "One of a kind Wednesday!"

Today I am offering for sale/bid my "Harrington and Hannah Love Mail" folk art, mini quilt.

It measures 12" x 12", has a sleeve for hanging and is the mini quilt that will be appearing on Series 1300 of Quilting Arts TV!

The bid for this quilt starts at $55 plus $7.00 shipping in the US and $15 shipping everywhere else.

Sold! Thank you so very much Rene', mama to four rescue rabbits. Light, love and hugs to you!

I said in my header that this piece was helping Hannah and it is. Things are very hard for everyone around the world. So many people are suffering. It makes me incredibly sad to see the devastation and disasters, to receive emails from friends dealing with life threatening illness and to read of families unable to pay their bills. While I do my best to stay positive and be happy, I will admit, it gets harder and harder some days.

David and I are truly blessed to have the roof over our heads and food in our bellies. We have worked incredibly hard for everything, but at the same time, it's been a very hard year for us. Actually, a very hard couple of years. We live simply, but job loss, furloughs, trying to start a business, writing a book and now vet bills have wiped us completely out.

I took Hannah, my little dust bunny, to the vet yesterday to discuss treatment strategies. I learned she has a disease called, Pasteurella. Basically, she has a chronic respiratory infection. There is no cure only "management" of the issues. She will eventually die from it but, being the crazy bunny lady I am, I will do whatever it takes to make her life as joyful, happy and safe as possible. After all, I chose to rescue her and give her a forever home. I promised to take care of her and love her no matter what. My vet said to me yesterday, "Pets, especially exotic pets, are a luxury." I agreed. I can give up a lot of things in life, but caring for these innocent, gentle creatures is just part of who I am, a luxury I truly adore.

Hannah's medicine and treatments are now costing me $200.00 a month. This wouldn't be so bad if things weren't they way they are right now. So, I'm not telling you all of this for pity or money. Again, I consider us very blessed every single day. I'm telling you this because it is what it is and you are my friend. I just want you to know that by purchasing my patterns, book, and bidding on this piece, it helps me take care of a precious little bunny who really deserves it.

For that I am forever grateful.

Light, Love and Hugs,
Michelle and the Bunnies

As someone who spent a lot of money keeping a precious bunny happy and healthy for as long as possible I truly understand your position and your want to keep Hannah around for a long as she is enjoying her life. I hope that your dedication to your beautiful bunnies is rewarded by a serendipitous moment in the near future.
Special big hugs to all of you and I hope Hannah is going well at the moment.

My dear friend,

Your piece is so beautiful - I have always loved your work, and you are truly blessed with so much:

KINDNESS
TALENT
COMPASSION
HARD WORK ETHIC

It continues to be such a challenge for so many, and you are smart to live as simply as possible, for we try to do the same thing. I am grateful to have found a job, but this "part-time" teaching job feels like full-time, but I can't complain, only that I wish I could help. What I thought was going to turn into a lucrative extra job tutoring doesn't look as if it will work out for me. SO back to saving pennies.....

I am saddened to hear that my Hannah-Banana has this disease....but you are taking such great care of her, and like ANYONE ELSE who receives such love in this life and eventually must go to our destinies, it's the love we've made that will make all the difference.

What darling photos you always share of both of them. Take many of them, please, please. She is a very special little lady, like you.

I just know your heart is breaking and helpless feeling for your fur baby. I would bid on your piece to help but honestly I just can't with medical bills that come with my husbands surgery and our situation. Remember my year started with lady bug luck? I haven't seen any more in months and now look at us. Hang in there my friend...I hear you.

pets aren't a luxury, they're vital much loved companions.... It's shocking though how much it can cost to look after a rabbit who needs long term treatment, we found that with Anya. I'm sure you'll help Hannah to continue living a full life...

I'm so sorry to hear about Hannah, Michelle. I love my pets almost as much as my children! I think of them as my four-legged, furry kids, so I know your heart is breaking right now. I will pray for you and little Hannah Banana. I so wish I was able to help out financially, I really do! Unfortunately, it seems that so many of us are in the same boat - struggling. But I give you my truest heartfelt wishes and love. Bless you!

Things have been very hard these past 6 years of economic decline and health challenges. I understand a little of what you write. Your colorful designs bring happiness and cheer to our homes and to those with whom we share these colorful expressions of love. Thanks you! I pray the best for Hannah ... may she grow stronger and breathe easier.

Poor darling Hannah...I know your heart is breaking. I've been there too, and I know there's nothing you wouldn't do to make her life easier and better. The whole world is blessed because you're in it, but she's specially blessed because the Good Lord brought her into your life. Hugs to you all.

Oh Michelle, I am sad to hear that you, David, and Hannah are making this journey. In our home, we are tending to two cats with asthma and cardiomyopathy and a dog with kidney disease, while we watch one of her daughters for signs of it. Tending is part of what we do and who we are these days, and it's a privilege to show that care and tenderness to the ones we love. I learned that with my mother and its equally true for our furry family members.

I don't have any experience with rabbits, but I have seen cats and dogs exceed expectations and I hope that will be the case with your Hannah. Sometimes life's surprises can be good ones.

And a bit of advice from someone whose vet bills are astronomical? Ask your local pharmacist how much the meds would cost if obtained there. Sometimes there is a world of difference. Your vet knows both how much you love Hannah and how much her care is adding up, and should be okay with writing a prescription to be filled at the pharmacy. We've saved a lot of money through a bit of research and an understanding vet.

Thanks for trusting us with what is happening in your life and in your heart.

Been with all that too - too much. It's tough. Good luck.

Keep going and hang on and most things get worked out. But first take care of yourself - can't help others otherwise - be hardnosed where need to for sanity and health.

OMGosh!!! Just a little information for you and your sweet bunnies. Our Casey Gail, Cairn terrier, age 15 has collapsing trachea and currently takes numerous Rx's monthly.

Yep,she is definitely our little girl for life and everyday with her is a gift for us.

Some of her Rx's are very costly and can be purchased through Walgreens - antibiotics, kidney meds and codein cough syrup she takes 4x's a day. Our pharmacist told us we should apply for a Walgreens Prescription Savings Club for $20/year to save us money and it has saved us a LOT of money on her meds. The card can be issued for anyone - dog, cat, bunny, person. I know some meds have to come from the vets, but not all. Kinda like an Rx supplemental insurance card. Hope this information helps just a little bit. You and yours are always in my thoughts with love and joy. Judy C in NC is getting better every day.

OH Shell! OMGosh... poor Hannah bunny! Words always fail in these moments mostly because it is emotional and that level of expression tends to be felt not spoken... but we are too far away from one another for me to give you and Hannah bunny a giant hug so I must find words... bunnies are one of the most precious creatures on this planet and when you chose Hannah the cosmos knew she was going to the right home.

It is indeed very difficult these days and an extra $200.00 per month can't be easy... if you wanted to set up a little button for donations to help defray some of the expense I for one would be glad to help. It would be a small donation here and there but heck every little bit helps!!! I too have pet health issues, I have a kitty that has chronic ailments and requires meds every day for his diabetes, which is an offshoot from his severe allergy monthly cortisone injections.

But Shell, we are all friends in this giant bloggy sisterhood and that means we care about one another no matter how far away we live from each other.

Ok, enough said... now let's see, since I didn't get one of your handmade quilts yet... I feel a shopping spree coming on... Ok, not a spree but hey, a little shopping never hurts :D

Hugs my sweet friend and give Hannah a little scratch behind the ears for me...

I'm so sorry. I have had a rabbit who got pasteurella, so I know something about what you are going through. I'm sure that in your loving care, Hannah will be able to enjoy the rest of her days to the fullest. :)
I also agree that every penny and moment of worry spent in taking care of our rabbit friends is well spent.
I wish you love, light and better days!
