Sometimes when I have self doubt...

While I'm mostly a happy, positive person, sometimes self doubt and sadness get's a hold of me. I'm blaming it all on hormones and this whole pre-menopausal crap! hee, hee, hee.

Anyway, when I feel bad, sad and like I want to pull the covers over my head and give up, I usually seek out things that make me feel better. This was just such a thing.

Enjoy...
xx, shell

Wonderful post. As someone who has dealt with depression for many years, I would recommend that you be sure and tell your GYN about your sadness, especially if the sad days start outweighing the good ones. I wish I had been on antidepressants long before I was. They made such a difference. I didn't know how much "happier" life could be. There's no shame in needing a little pill to help with the imbalances for whatever reason.

Well said!! But don't ever forget how much you are loved - by David, your parents, your assistants, 908 followers and the rest of the world!! I hope that will suffice!! Hey, I made it past menopause - can't be all that bad!! :-))) Kris

Must be something about this time of year, I've been struggling with some "blue" days as well. Between horrormones, crappy weather and my own melodramatic personality, let's just say it's never pretty. Today was a good day, though, so I'm already focusing on that to keep the blues at bay--and once I figure out where my next project lies, I'll be all set. :)

Hey Shell, What's makin you sad. Love your quote. Here's my mantra -
Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason.
If you get a chance, take it.
If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it." Author Unknown

Hi Shell. I've missed "talking" to you. Sorry about the "blues" (that goes for you, too, Jade). But what will follow is a time of absolute wow! and being the best you've ever been. I promise. Of course after that ... you get old, and it all goes to hell. But until then ... it's fabulous!

Shell,
Menopause can rack havoc with your emotions causing a lot of highs and lows. See you Dr. about it.
I do love this quote and may copy it if i may?

So so so many of us have been there! When it is you knowing that really doesn't help except we can advise and relate are own stories.... after 17 years of caring for 2 parents one with a terrible stroke and the other with cancer I went to counseling and have been on anti-deppressants for many years and I am the best I have ever been in my life!! I am me!!! If it really starts to get in the way of life.. get some help.....I could never have fixed this myself...sometimes you just need help over the bumps..life is too short to waste a minute!!!! lots of hugs your way...xxxxxxx

I blame it on POST-menopause LOLOLOL But we all have it at one time or another. Love your post and really needed it this morning because this week has been one big pity party and I need to get over myself! LOL

I had a day like that yesterday - and it's trying to continue into today. :( I'm far too old to blame it on hormones and far too tired to be having a pity party. Shame on me! Staying busy helps I think so I'll be in the sewing room today if you need me. :) blessings, marlene

I think too many of us have days like that. It may help you to know that so many of us feel you are truly a gifted creator. I love everything I see you make, and love stopping by your site every time I see a blog post.

I'm right there with you with the hormones. It does take the wind out of your sails some days. Just know that we all think you're wonderful and some days it's okay not to do anything. Twyla

I loved your Lilly McDaniels quote and wonder if you realize how much of an impact that made on us, your readers. Even while feeling blue, you spread such joy with your sharing. We all need to take time to reflect. I really do feel the weather has a lot to do with it. It became so crisp and cool so quickly that it never let us transistion into it. Today I shall soak up some sun - might help my pneumonia and build up some strength as I am tired of feeling puny. Sit in the sun today and think only happy thoughts, Shell, and know we are all in the same hormone imbalance. Judy C

Great quote, Shell. I'm with BL all the way. I never realized life would be so much more pleasant once I got over that hormone thing. Of course, now it's just "old," but that has it's advantages, too. You get senior citizen discounts!!

That is a great quote! Thank you so much for sharing - I have had a blue weak myself so this was really nice, especially the part about random opinions. I am going to post it on my wall. I agree, the whole menopause thing bites. Big time. But some friends told me about an herbal supplement called Dim plus. It is all natural, my ob/gyn checked it out and okayed it. I was very skeptical at first but it has made a HUGE difference for me, talk to your DR about it. Also, eat chocolate, the good stuff - you deserve it!

Excellent advice. I know where you are too. This perimenopause stuff stinks. I want to try the natural prog cream. Heard it helps. Change of season does it for me also. The move towards winter...shorter days and longer dark time, I think it tweaks something very old and primal in us.

Love, love love this....so true....and Shell, after menopause is THE BEST!!!

I could send BL there if you think it would help!!!!

I can run. Not very far, and not very fast, and not every day, but it surely pops up the endorphines!

Dear Shell,

Sorry you are feeling like this girlfriend.
It is not any fun with the pre-menopausal, but it will pass - buy yourself some flaxseed oil capsules, and Omega 3 fish oil, that may help you.
Sending love & hugs to you and wish for a happy new week for you.

Hugs
Carolyn
