Quilt Festival Tour day 2

So today I will show you two quilts that just stopped me in my tracks. They were both innovative and truly amazing.

This first quilt is Persephone. I have always been a huge fan of mythology and this quilt just sucked me into the magic of it.

Look at the detail in her hair!!! Look how the quilting makes her dress, sleeves and skin so real! Check out her ring!!

These roses were velvet and had so much texture. I wanted to reach out and touch them. Of course touching the quilts at the show is a no no. But it really was hard to resist.

Annette Hendricks is the artist of this quilt. She won an honorable mention. In my opinion she deserved more. I'm giving her a blue ribbon. :)

Next is this incredible piece that I just had to photograph for my friend Juliet Wilson of The Crafty Green Poet. Juliet is an environmentalist and I knew she would appreciate the message behind this quilt and the recycled materials that were used.

Doesn't this look like a log? Nope, it's fabric!!! Yes, fabric!! Incredible. I wanted to touch that too. Naughty...hee,hee,hee.

This quilt was just as beautiful on the front as the back. I think it is beautiful and I love how she stepped outside the quilting box to create a piece of art with a message. Lovely.

Here's some more information on this quilt and the Lois Griffith, the artist.

I hope you are enjoying the tour. I have lots more to come, so stay tuned!

Such works of art! "Going Green or Not" is amazing! I have to admit, so far, the bunny quilt from yesterday is my favorite!
The Dallas Quilt Festival is next week, and I am looking forward to seeing, but not touching, some lovely works of art. That not touching part is so very hard!

You musn't touch Shell! When we went to NYC Hef's dad touched an ancient greek pillar and the guard yelled "NO TOUCHING!" really loud and it echoed in the hall, it was very embrassing!

I love, love, love the hanging wreath quilt! I just get such a kick out of things that push the boundries of quilting. Anything that is not square or rectangle gets a head start in my book! And it is beautiful, as well :o)

Oh. my. word. Those are both equally stunning - I'd find it hard to pick a favorite. I'm so glad you took pics of these Shell! They both just take my breath away.

On the first quilt...I'm amazed at how she had the sleeve and the arm showing through it. How in the world did she do that???? Amazing. Simply amazing.

Hi Shell,
Wow!!!
I can't believe these works of art are quilts. They look so much like paintings. Such beautiful creations. The detail and textures are incredible. I wonder how long it took to sew these works.
Anyway, I hope you are well and if you have a moment come and visit my fairies sewing a patchwork quilt!:-)

Have a good weekend,
Love,
Jo. xx

So So So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use to do work like that before I got were I could not remember how I did it any more!! Yes my world is slipping away...... I use to be able to figure out things without a pattern. I use to make cloths with out a pattern designing my own cloths. Making quilts without some one else telling me how to do it.
This awful thing runs in my family. It has got me.
I hope you are not mad at me, you haven't been by lately!!!
