Before, before, before, before, After!

I debated about showing ya'll this as you'll really think I need some medication! Remember, I have OCDD (obsessive compulsive decorating disorder) hee, hee, hee. But my friend, Lyd, said it would be fun to see all my phases over the past years. Plus, it will be interesting to see what your favorite is.

I decided to start my before's and after with my "Friend's Entry." All our friends enter our home through the side door. The first time you come to our home, we have you enter through the front door, but when you leave, you go through the side. I've always liked that saying, "enter as a stranger and leave as a friend." So are ya ready? Here we go.

The "Frou Frou" phase complete with pink accents, yellow walls, crystal fringes and lace curtains.

The "Minimalist, I'm soooo over cleaning and polishing all that crystal sparkly stuff" phase.

The "bye bye yellow walls and oooo la la, I like all this French garden decorating stuff going on" phase

The "white and fleur de lis" phase

and finally today, the "Country Cottage" phase.

I'm really loving the warm and welcoming feel that this look has. Most of the pieces came from thrift shops. I love the hammered aluminum and have been collecting some pieces. But, in keeping true to my word this year about buying art or handmade things, I purchased the picture above the bench from artist, Jeri Landers of Hopalong Hollow. I just had to have one of her prints. I adore her work and she is also a critter lover and has a truly wonderful blog. She reminds me of Tasha Tudor. Hop over and visit her. You won't be disappointed.

I think this piece has the perfect saying for my "friends entry." Jeri also has some wonderful pieces featuring quilts! I'm saving my pennies for one of those too!

Well there ya go. I know, I know... I'm nuts, but I do have fun! ;)  I'm interested to know which one is your favorite.

I must say the last 'phase' I like the best, but that is how I know you now. You could come decorate for me - I have been the same for 20 yrs. A few changes with the kitchen as that is where the most activity is.

That's a pretty amazing tour and it was just one room. Love the Dutch bun picture too, where is that from?

Love them all:)

Hi, I just found your blog and I enjoyed the phases. I love decorating too; I like to change things around seasonally.

I like all of your phases but my favorites are your last two phases.
Very inviting!

Wonderful glimpses of the evolution of your phases. I definitely like the last cottage look - and with white walls you can add any colors you want for a totally different look. Thanks for sharing. Judy C

All the phrases are simply gorgeous, my favs are the last two with the last being one I would actually love to sit in for a bit :)

This last phase has alot of color compared to the others. Even though I'm partial to french country and garden, I'm liking this last phase.
BTW - we have the same rule. First time thru the front door, after that, thru the side door. Unfortunately I have yet to decorate that area. You have given me some inspiration!

The "Country Cottage" phase seems warmer than the all-white schemes and easier to maintain tan the frou-frou. And somehow it is always possible to incorporate bunnies into any decorating scheme. Are there more overstuffed places for Harrington to explore?

What a gorgeous print! Being a long time Tasha Tudor fan (in the sidebar at the end of my blog is a video of her garden)this is right up my alley! Love seeing all your phases. The country cottage and the "fleur de lis" phase are my favorites. I'm really jealous of your entry way! I have a cape cod and you walk right into the steps leading upstairs. Have a great day!! Jenn

I like the minimalist and the country cottage! But all are really beautiful. I must say I really do admire your ability to keep things white or even just light colored.

Country all the way! I am a country/rustic/1/2 primitive decorator. I really like the last photo and what a nice area in your home. Beautiful.

I love the clean lines of the Minimalist but I am a bit of a country girl so I'd say the present one. The only thing to improve is have a bunny sitting there. Love your blog, Shel. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

Hi Shell....I quite liked the pretty "Frou frou" room, and sorry but I am definitely NOT miminalist so the next two were not me, but the last one is such a winner. How could anyone not be inspired when you open the door!! How welcoming is that...I'd definitely keep that look....well... until inspiration attacks you again, and who knows where?

So beautiful! I'm so glad you've taken pictures throughout the years and changes!!

I have to say that I'm partial to the "white and fleur-de-lis" phase, because my sorority's symbols were the fleur-de-lis and the key!!

Hi, Shell! New fans here. Found you by way of The Farmers Attic. :) Anyway, love this post! What a FANTASTIC lil' space you have to play with here! Wow! I have to say that *my* personal fave is the last "Country Cottage" phase. Of course, I'm partial to prim decor, so it just goes without saying. lol BUT, I also really love the "Minimalist..." phase. So crisp, clean and GORGEOUS! Heck, they're all great, but those two are TOPS in my book. ;) Love 'em!
