As Sweet as Sugar... Happy Rescue Day

One year ago some sweetness was added to my life in the form of Sugar or as most of you now know her, Sugie.

My friend, Paula Watkins, of Cape Fear House Rabbit Society, called to tell me about a rabbit that needed rescuing. She was only 20 minutes from my house. I wasn't sure I could handle it as I had just lost my little Chloe a week earlier. But, one look at your scared, sweet little face, sitting in that awful cage, out in 100 degree heat, covered in pee from the male rabbits spraying you from each side, was all my heart needed. I scooped you up and brought you home.

(didn't she look so sad?!?)

Now here you live in Bunnyville with your own air conditioning, lots of food, toys and love.

Your fur is clean and soft.

You do a little happy dance for your dinner and Razzy loves dearly.

In fact...we all love you dearly and you truly are as Sweet as Sugar.

Happy Rescue Day baby girl. We may have rescued you, but you rescued our hearts.

Dear Shell and Sugie:
What a blessings you both are to each other. It's obvious that this little bunn needed your tender touch, and a pal like Razzy to change her outlook on life. You're an angel for rescuing her and I know there are rewards waiting for you some day.

Tears to my eyes. It was a year in May that we got Sogna, too.

Poor little Sugie. She looks so scared. She looks like a baby in that pic, too. She's so lucky that you and David and Razzy found her. And you're lucky too.

You have such a kind heart and I love your bunnies. I know they love you too. Cannot thank you enough for telling me about the Genesis Project. When we all do a little something to respect our world we all come away happier, healthier and more joyful. Sea Witch

Ah Shell, this is the sweetest story about Sugie. She is a very cute and a beautiful bunny. I am glad you rescued her. You look lovely together in the photo!:)
There are a lot of little animals out there in the world that need rescuing and need some love. It is very sad!:(
I am glad this sad story had a happy ending though.:)
At the moment I'm in the process of moving house but I would be happy to make you a bunny bracelet, to match your necklace. When I am settled in a week or two, I will get in touch with you about the commission.
Thank you very much for your lovely messages. Always good to hear from you!
Hugs to you and the buns.

Aw, she's so sweet and so blessed to have you as her family. Thank you for telling us Sugie's story! Love the last pic. Sugie reminds me of Lucky, the rabbit we had when I was younger. He lived mostly in the back yard, though he could roam the kitchen on his leash. He and our cat were friends. He loved to eat green grapes. :o) Anyway, happy anniversary to you and Sugie!

It always feels good to recue an animal and watch it realize it is in a safe environement. Food, shelter, love, are all there, and most important - neglect and abuse no longer exist in their world. Its called trust. Good for you!
