Sugar in Bunnyville

Tuesday I spent a wonderful day with my friend Paula at Cape Fear House Rabbit Society while Sugar had her hysterectomy. The Doctor did a wonderful job and Sugar recovered remarkably fast!

So yesterday, Sugar left her temporary housing quarters in the Foyer and made the climb upstairs to Bunnyville. As I've said before, bonding rabbits is a journey and a process. You don't just throw them in together or somebody could get hurt badly. So she still has to be in the playpen a while to see how they get along. Not that I see any problems as they are both very sweet, loving and laid back bunnies.

When I brought Sugar up to the playpen, Razzy was in the litter box freshening up. Sugar decided she better do the same.

Then he approached her. She lifted her ears.
They both leaned forward ever so slowly.

Sniff, sniff, sniff.

Then Razzy reached through the bars and gave her a kiss.

They both turned away in embarrassment.

Sugar hopped under the fort to think about what had just happened.
Razzy laid down under the settee and apologized again and again
for being so forward on the first date.

Then made the move closer to the playpen to show his sincerity all the while hoping for another kiss..
Sugar was still not quite sure what to think of him.

Razzy decided that he was happy he kissed her and did the biggest bunny flop ever!
(all you rabbit people know that means "bunnies are very, very, happy" when they flop)
He then took a little nap while Sugar thought he was rather pathetic for throwing himself at her like that.
If all goes well, I hope to let them loose together next weekend in the bathroom (neutral territory) and then take them on the car ride in the "to go" box. We'll keep ya posted!
Bunny hugs,
shell
This week IGF Sugar recovering so quickly, Razzy being such a lovey and my friend Paula being such a generous person in caring for bunnies.

Me being fairly new here, i'm finding out why i'm really loving this blog spot. What a sweet rabbit story. I want a rabbit really bad but hubby will not let me get one...ugh. We have a dog Max who adopted us almost 2 years ago. We were at that stage where we weren't going to get anymore animals we had moved to a new house and only months before that we had our 16 year old mix put to sleep. He was completely blind & had a hard time walking we knew he wouldn't survive in a new home. We had told each other we will not get anymore animals..(sniff, sniff) but I have since changed my mind and really want a lop ear rabbit. I do not know anything about them though I find them adorable!

Sorry for being long winded, lols. Thanks for sharing your lovely story with us.

Have a nice Monday.

Oh Shell, what a cute story!!! I was giggling about Razzy being too forward!!! Oh how funny!!! I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Bunnies wouldn't go over at my house with the four cats...I am thinking that bunnies probably don't get in as much trouble as teenager kittens!!! I am about ready to ground them!!! And here I thought I had my children all raised... ;p

That is so awesome. :)
Back many years ago, me and my gf at the time had a single lonely bunny, and while getting food saw one marked very cheap, who looked just like ours, and since we worried what would happen to him. Once we brought him home, our current bunny ran circles around the cage grunting and flopping. The new bunn offered a treat stick he had to him too. It was the best bonding (and quickest too) i've ever seen. That is one of my best memories and it's good to see other bunnies out there in the same situation. :)
(now if i could just get all these current bunns bonded together)

Awww bun love! Hef is jealous, but we just haven't found the doe for him. I'm sure he'd be a smooth operator too. "I don't know if you know this *haha* but Hugh Hefner, who I am named after ya know, is quite the ladies man..."

No doubt Razzy missed Chloe. Now time is healing the your broken heart and Sugar is a great distraction for both of you. Sounds like they should be great pals soon. With a Mamma like you, how could they not. I just love you and your bunny family - Shell.

LOL, what a cute story! I think Razzy and Sugar are going to get along wonderfully. That kiss was a good start, even if Sugar thought it was a little too soon for kisses ;) Razzy's a very happy boy-bun right now, all flopped out next to his sweet Sugar!

Good Morning
Thank you for stopping over on white wednesday. Your buunies are soooo cute and a cute story to go with. I had a bunny when I was a kid Schwartzy...he was black and he wore diapers and ran all over the house...he loved chocolate. If he smelled it he came running and if you let him he would grab it right out of you mouth. He was a little pushy!
Have a great day
Blessings
