Stop Touching It

Stop touching it! Doesn't Chloe look like she's saying that? Well, ok, maybe it's just me thinking that because I screwed up my blog and other things lately. Remember when you were a kid and you had a scab, or a zit, or something else that you could not leave alone and you kept touching it and messing with it and your mom would shout "stop touching it?" Well lately I feel like I need that shouted at me daily. STOP TOUCHING IT!!
For some reason, I keep messing around with stuff that I like perfectly fine to begin with, thinking I need to improve them, change them, change myself. Searching, asking, seeking, only to go and make huge mess and something that is far away from my true self.
My latest blunder was messing with my blog background. While trying to "play/learn", make a pretty background, instead of having the nice clean, neat, tidy, non cluttered background (which is me), I blasted my blog banner into oblivion! Damn! I was so mad! Thank goodness for my dear friend, Roxie. Roxie created by beautiful banner for me and I had to get her to bring it back. Thank you Roxie!!!!!!!!
I have done the complete run around and around thinking about my art and what I like and what I want to make and what I want to sell and what people will buy and yadda, yadda, yadda. When all along, if I would just "stop touching it," and realize who I am and what makes me happy, I would be well ahead of schedule for the holidays instead of in this ridiculous mad rush to get ready for a 12 day shop hop, a big 3 day holiday festival show, a wedding, two pet sitting jobs and Thanksgiving. Not to mention a full time job!
With that said, I have some new things to show you coming very soon. I've "stopped touching it," and have gotten down to business on my bliss. Here's a hint. A Quilted Cottage Christmas.
Hugs,
Shell
This week, IGF friends that understand HTML so I don't have to. Thanks again Roxie!

Oh, Shell, you have been having a time of it. Glad you have settled your brain. I think we all have to learn to do that! Stop moving away from what is in our hearts.

What a great lesson to learn. Most of us probably need to heed this advice to Stop Touching It. We'd all be more productive I think.

Stop touching it is a great thing for a lot of us. Sometimes, like you said, when you fuss with something too much you end up ruining it. Glad to hear you're "back on track". Have a great week. Sounds too busy!!

Oh Shell, thank you for this message! I haven't been "touching it" so much as I have been procrastinating and thinking and wondering if I should try this, do that, figure out something new, when all I really need to do is what I do best, make pocketbooks! So I'm diggin in this week and digging out from under my self emposed backlog! Thanks for the reminder. I need to KISS (keep it simple, stupid!!... meaning me as the stupid one of course!) XOXO

And that is why I do not collect rough drafts from my students...just do it...proofread...move on...the more you mess with something the muddier it gets...I paint watercolors...those painting lessons work well in life!
AND LOVE the BUNNY!!!!

Shell, you crack me up every week. I love your bunny pics. Maybe it's the time of year but I have messed up my blog too. I however do not have a cute banner like you do....It sounds like you have lots of balls in the air. k

I just did an interview that will be posted in November. The lady says make what you love. It was a good lesson for me so I am going back to working on hats. Ordered a pattern from Adored Before and can't wait to start. Made some pillows too. They make me happy. PS I want to touch that bunny!Lilli

I tend to do that with my clay Shell. I'll look at a piece, & see soemthing that maybe I could tweek alittle when it was perfectly fine. before I know it, I have to theow it in the scrap pile! Is the obsessive compulsive thing with us?

Hi Michelle,
You are so funny...you always tickle me with your posts. But everything you say makes so much sense. I love your banner...I've always wanted to do something with mine, but don't even know where to begin, so maybe I'll just heed your warnings!! Now, you listen to Chloe!!!!
